This past weekend both the Red Raiders men's basketball team and the Lady Raiders held their Homecoming & Hoops Pep Rally.

In the past Tubby Smith would hold Midnight Madness events, and Chris Beard had this pep rally set up in a similar fashion. Fans packed the United Supermarkets Arena and got to know the 2016/2017 teams. The event held a three-point shooting contest and a dunk contest.
In the three-point contest, the Lady Raiders team of Recee' Caldwell and Larryn Brooks knocked off the men's squad of Aaron Ross and Andrew Sorrells by a decisive 33-22. Following the three-point contest, the dunk contest took place. Some phenomenal dunks were thrown down, but in the end Zach Smith took home the title in a repeat performance from last year.
This year's men's team looks to improve upon their impressive tourney-invite team from a year ago, and there will be 10 new faces on the team. The team has all the tools to have a very successful season. The Lady Raiders look to bounce back from a 13-18 season, and they have had some great success recruiting as of late.
The men's squad has its first exhibition game on Friday November 4th against Missouri Western State, and the Lady Raiders have their first exhibition game on Sunday November 6th against Midwestern State.
