What a week for the Red Raiders! It started off with wide receiver Antonio Cox-Wesley committing on Tuesday. Quarterback Jett Duffey followed on Wednesday. We cap off the week with running back Bryson Denley committing.
Denley from Cibolo Steele is a 3-star recruit according to Rivals and 247. He shows offers from Baylor, Illinois, Kansas, Oregon State and Tulsa. He is the second running back and second Cibolo Steele player to commit to Tech’s 2016 class. Da’Leon Ward a running back from Dallas Skyline committed in February. Cox-Wesley was the first Cibolo Steele player to commit to Tech this year. Again, this is a player like Cox-Wesley that Mike Jinks knows well and has a connection to. Not surprised that we continue to look to Cibolo Steele for players. We have landed Justin Stockton and Terrence Steele from Cibolo Steele since Jinks has joined the Red Raider staff.
Denley is 5’8, 165 pounds. That is a little light at this point, but he has plenty of time to bulk up. He racked up 919 yards on 155 carries with 12 touchdowns last season.
The offensive commits continue to roll in while the defensive commits lag behind. Denley is the 8th commit of the 2016 class and the 7th on the offensive side of the ball. Neiman Armstrong a defensive back from DeSoto is the only defensive commit at this point.
We are working on tracking down some film for Denley and will post it asap. His hudl videos are private and we haven’t had any luck anywhere else just yet. Stay tuned…
