DMN's Tim MacMahon has a good article about Jay Jackson and the number of minutes he's played this early season. Without a doubt Jackson plays a vital role in this offense clicking and it's nice to see Knight acknowledge that Jackson's defensive liabilities were probably a result of playing too many minutes.
Knight saw too many instances when Jackson rested on the floor by playing lackadaisical defense. That was a major reason he recruited junior college guards Charlie Burgess and Benny Valentine.
The Big XII handed out it's annual football awards and Joel Filani was the only Red Raider who made first team honors. Keyunta Dawson and Glen January took second team honors.
