Preview: Texas Tech v. UTEP

The Red Raiders face off against UTEP at 2:00 p.m. in El Paso.  Like most college teams, UTEP is a guard oriented team. Aside from the normal player losses, UTEP also lost it's coach, Doc Sadler, to Nebraska.

UTEP's 4 leading scorers are all in the backcourt.  Stefon Jackson is their leading scorer and was also their lead returning scorer from last year.  Ken Pomeroy has the Miners as the 212th ranked team and here is his scouting report.  As far as Tech is concerned, Ken Pomeroy believes that Tech is the 112th ranked team.  That's not good.

I believe that Tech will come out more focused than against Marquette and Air Force, however, we're talking about a team in UTEP that lost it's leading 4 scorers from last year.  I would expect that Tech would absolutely kill UTEP, but I'm not going to make any assumptions until Tech does something about it's defense.

If you're not going to be by a television tomorrow, you can listen to the game here (Internet Explorer only).
