The annual collection of top nominated running backs in the nation has been released for 2020. The Doak Walker Award watch list has a slew of talented athletes across the nation and listed our own sophomore Sarodorick Thompson as one of them. Thompson is joined alongside four other Big 12 contenders in this years’ field.

In his redshirt freshman season last year, Thompson became the eighth Red Raider to lead the team in rushing yards as a freshman (most recently being Da’Leon Ward). He tallied 765 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns on 160 carries - most of which came during Big 12 play. As the projected starter for the 2020 season, these are the dates to keep in mind for Thompson’s ascension through the Doak Walker list:

  • November 20~ : Ten semifinalists announced
  • December 2~ : Three finalists announced
  • December 12~ : “The Home Depot College Football Awards” show
  • February TBD : Doak Walker Award presentation banquet

all these dates obviously subject to change.
