After a two month battle with Stage 4 ovarian cancer, one of the best Lady Raiders of all time, Noel Johnson, has died. Johnson spent the past 12 years as the head coach of Lone Star Conference member and a soon-to-be member of the Texas Tech University System, Midwestern State University. She is the winningest women’s HC in Midwestern’s history.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Lady Raider great Noel Johnson.

Johnson’s accomplishments as a Red Raider were incredible. She was apart of Texas Tech teams that won 4 straight conference titles and the 1993 National Championship. Johnson was known for her incredible efficiency behind-the-arc, finishing with a career percentage of 41.1%; good enough for sixth in program history. Her 51.1% shooting on threes in ‘94-95 is still the best to this day. She is also 17th in career scoring and 7th in career assists for the program. Johnson is a notable member of the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame, Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Texas Tech Hall of Fame.
We offer her family, former teammates, and current players at MSU our deepest condolences. Wreck Em’ forever, Noel.
