Day one of the draft showed to be a success for Red Raider nation as Jordyn Brooks was selected by the Seahawks in the first round. Day two wasn’t as fun as Texas Tech didn’t have anyone selected, day three is now a different story as Broderick Washington Jr has been selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round.

Broderick Washington Jr. will be lined up along side talented defenders such as Matt Judon and Tyus Bowser come this fall. Washington Jr. was a projected sixth round pick. Washington has incredibly aggressive hands which help him fight off blocks. He has very quick footwork that helps him set an inside edge. He has a very high IQ on the field and always seems to know where the ball is. He’ll likely be used as a shade nose tackle and play almost exclusively in rushing situations for the Ravens defensive system.

Washington Jr. recorded 24 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks during his senior season. He made All-Big 12 Honorable Mention the last 3 seasons of his collegiate career. He was invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, along with former teammate Terence Steele. Washington Jr. will be a great addition to the Ravens defensive squad.
