Powerhouses struggle in the first week of conference play

TCU beats Oklahoma State 44-31

TCU walked into Stillwater a double-digit underdog and walked out with a win. Mason Rudolph threw two interceptions in the second half. Those, combined with a pick off receiver Jalen McCleskey on a questionable trick play that ended a near three touchdown comeback, sank the Pokes. TCU running back Darius Anderson racked up 160 yards and three touchdowns. Oklahoma State heads to Lubbock next week to take on the undefeated Red Raiders while TCU has a bye.

Oklahoma survives in Waco 49-41

The down and out Baylor Bears did all they could to upset the Oklahoma Sooners but it wasn’t enough. Baker Mayfield threw three touchdowns backing up his Instagram post saying that the kid Is indeed back in Waco. Sooners Abdul Adams and Trey Sermon both rushed for over 145 yards with three touchdowns between them. Bear’s quarterback Zach Smith padded his stats with 463 yards and four touchdowns in the shootout. Oklahoma heads into a bye week undefeated while Baylor hosts Kansas State.

West Virginia gives up 367 on the ground in 56-34 win against Kansas

Despite Khalil Herbert’s 367 yards and two touchdowns, the Mountaineers beat Kansas at Memorial Stadium. The Jayhawks were down 22 going into halftime and managed to pull within one possession two times but couldn’t finish the comeback. Mountaineer quarterback Will Grier threw two late fourth quarter touchdowns to seal the victory for West Virginia. The Mountaineers have a bye before traveling to Fort Worth to face a very good TCU squad while Kansas has a week off before hosting the Red Raiders.
