Chris Beard adds perimeter threat to 2017 recruiting class

Coach Beard added to his first full recruiting class with another commitment yesterday.

Avery Benson, the 6’3” guard from Springdale, AR, will come to campus as a Preferred Walk-On, but will be competing for playing time immediately.

The left handed sharpshooter will attract comparisons to another Arkansas product and former Red Raider, Dusty Hannahs. However, with his potential and a full career ahead of him, he’ll try to carve out a name for himself.

Benson also was being recruited by Arkansas and Colorado, but his visit to Lubbock in April might have sealed the deal.
