Lady Raiders Show Out Against Cougars

This past Wednesday the Lady Raiders hosted Houston for Education day. The crowd was roaring with the cheers of thousands of kids from local elementary schools that came to visit Texas Tech. All the support from the little Red Raiders must have worked since Texas Tech taught Houston an offensive clinic. After a sluggish 15 point first quarter, the Lady Raiders recorded back to back quarters of 20+ plus points to give them a 24 point lead over the Cougars going into the final quarter. This offensive showcase is due in no small part to a season-high shooting percentage of 58.5 from the field. ‘

Offense wasn’t the only cylinder Tech fired on. The defense held Houston to a modest shooting percentage of 42.1. They also recorded a season’s best of 16 steals; that is not a typo. More impressively, the Lady Raiders tied a season’s best of 23 turnovers in which those 16 steals are included. Junior Center Jada Terry was the human highlight reel on Wednesday as she recorded 16 points going 6 for 8 from the field. Four other Lady Raiders scored in double digits. The win over Houston elevated Texas Tech to a 5-3 overall record on the season.

Central Arkansas Rolls Into Town on Wednesday

The Lady Raiders play host to Central Arkansas this Wednesday (The 14th) at 5:30 PM. The Bears are 5-1 on the season playing a group of decent teams. They previously traveled to College Station, Texas where they were defeated 74-49 by the Aggies. Texas Tech had traveled in November to play the Aggies where they lost 98-90 in overtime. Take that however you want, but Texas Tech has a good shot at knocking off Central Arkansas on their way to conference play.
