Riko Jeffers, an outside linebacker from Sachse High School announced on Twitter today he is committing to Texas Tech University. He is a three-star recruit and a solid pickup for the 2017 class. Jeffers brings talent to a defense that desperately needs more.
Jeffers visited Texas Tech during homecoming weekend when they played West Virginia. This came shortly after he was offered a scholarship. He said he was impressed with the atmosphere and the coaching staff.
With the lack of talent Gibbs is playing with this season, it's great to see Texas Tech land a defensive recruit. Jeffers will be joining a group of young linebackers in D'Vonta Hinton, Jonathan Picone, and Jordyn Brooks. It seems like Gibbs is starting to land some of his guys and I feel that will definitely help point this defense in the right direction. If Jeffers comes to Tech and shows great promise immediately, he could be a starter next year on Gibbs' defense.
