Good news out of the Big 12 coaches teleconference as Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said that QB Baker Mayfield, who left the Kansas game with an apparent knee injury, is not out for the year and may practice this week.
Via blog friend FSSW's David Ubben, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said today that QB Baker Mayfield is not out for the year and that it is possible that he might practice today.
As usual, Kingsbury remained coy about who would start at quarterback, stating that he wasn't sure what Mayfield was going to be able to do. This is good news for a lot of Texas Tech fans who feared the worst when they saw Mayfield limp off the field late in the game against Kansas. It sure would be nice to have Mayfield available against Iowa St.
Kliff Kingsbury on Baker Mayfield: "He will not be out for the entire season. Wasn't structural damage that we thought."

Mayfield may or may not practice TODAY. What a dodged bullet for Tech. That was a nasty hit. Looked like a serious knee injury.

Kliff Kingsbury: "I don't know who the starter will be" this week. Has to see what Mayfield can do in practice this week.
