Dallas Baptist star guard Chandler Jacobs has committed to Texas Tech.

Jacobs, a Division II All-American, has chosen Texas Tech as his next destination. The DBU transfer chose Tech over Cal, Vanderbilt, Wyoming, Colorado State, and Grand Canyon.

Not only was Jacobs named an All-American, but he was also named Lone Star Conference defensive player and academic player of the year.

Jacobs is coming off an amazing year at DBU, where he averaged 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He did all this while also averaging 2.5 steals and shooting 45 percent from 3-point range.

In the past couple days, it’s been obvious what coach Mark Adams has been targeting: shooting. They also picked up their only commit from the 2021 class in Trinity Christians Ethan Duncan. Both players are averaging greater than 40 percent from 3, so be expecting that ball to be flying from beyond the arch quite a bit.

Another thing this commitment shows is that coach Adams is looking for guys that will buy in, not necessarily the big-name transfers. He’s looking for guys that want to put the work in that’s needed to succeed. Jacobs coming from the D2 level is exactly what that shows. The recent signing of KJ Allen also shows that, with him coming from the JUCO level.

One thing is for sure, the 2021-2022 Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team is going to fight every damn night. That’s going to be amazing to watch and we should be excited and optimistic for the upcoming season.
