You won’t be surprised by this player of the week

Who managed to shine in back-to-back losses?

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

This week was a tough week for the good guys. Losing to Baylor and West Virginia shouldn’t be considered as “bad” losses. There’s a lot of evidence to the contrary. Especially when our worst performances were still marked by the ability to “get back in and win it.” With that optimism in mind, did anyone have a true impact worth noting?

In two losses we got to see two players emerge in separate matches. Ramsey was strong against Baylor with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and only 2 turnovers. He looked like the superstar everyone was expecting him to be against the top guarding team in the nation. Then Moretti had 16 points, shot 50% from beyond the arc, and had 2 steals against West Virginia. But in light of their poor performances in the opposite matches, I don’t think I can honestly choose anybody as a player of the week when the award literally states “week.” Additionally, despite those good performances in their respective games - neither player did enough to boost Tech to victory! And at the end of the day, what is the point of stats if a loss goes on the record?

The team is going to be fine and we’ll have plenty of POTW going forward, but for this week there is no one who deserves to being highlighted in full. Hopefully this will be the last time I am stuck with this decision!
