Some of my favorite memories at Rip Griffin Park involve the entire crowd screaming “GUUUUUUUUUTE!” The fan-favorite Eric Gutierrez will be back in Lubbock as a volunteer coach under Tim Tadlock. The former first baseman was a perennial star for the Red Raiders as he was the Big 12 player of the year during his senior season in 2016 and helped lead the Red Raiders to their first College World Series in 2014.
Eric Gutierrez returns to #TexasTech as our new volunteer assistant coach. Welcome back, Gute!

After being drafted in the 20th round by the Miami Marlins in 2016, Gutierrez played with 4 different teams in the minors and had a batting average of .255 during his 3 year career. Gutierrez announced his retirement and decided to come back to Lubbock to begin his coaching career. Welcome back to Lubbock Eric, you were surely missed.
