AP top 25: the Sooners break into the top 3

Alabama’s always in first position, but there’s a new chaser

NCAA Football: Oklahoma at Ohio State Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

In the most hyped game of the week, Oklahoma defeated Ohio State in Columbus and stole the Buckeyes’ the second place in the AP Poll ranking, with Alabama seated comfortably in first place, as usual, after an easy win against Fresno State.

It was a good week for the Big 12, as Oklahoma State improved to No. 9 in the poll, Kansas State to No. 18 and TCU to No. 20. The only team to drop from the top-25 was Notre Dame, which was replaced by UCLA.

The bye week didn’t increase the stock of the Red Raiders, as they collected only two points instead of the Week 1’s four. Texas Tech consequently dropped to No. 40 overall, but a healthy victory against Arizona State this weekend would inch the Red Raiders closer to top-25 recognition.
