DanSwany has the Elite 8 Christmas Gifts for the Texas Tech fan that is a basketball fan.

1. 2014 NCAA Final Four & Championship Tickets (Arlington, TX)

I went to the 2011 men’s NCAA Final Four and Championship games at Reliant Stadium in Houston. For a die-hard college basketball fan it is a dream come true to experience this sort of thing. To see the passion and excitement in the crowds, and to watch great basketball be played was breathtaking. This year the Final Four takes place in Arlington at AT&T Stadium. If you are in the area and your family is basketball fans I highly recommend purchasing these tickets. You will not regret it. This gift would be the coolest gift ever.

2. NBA Game Tickets

I still remember my father bringing me to NBA games... it was the greatest. He took me to see players like Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, and Clyde Drexler. Having an experience at the greatest game on earth with a family member is priceless. Walking out of the Toyota Center after a Houston Rockets game is where I told my wife I loved her for the very first time. Tickets to an NBA game make for a great gift with awesome memories.

3. Customized NBA Jersey (w/ name on the back)

Pick a favorite team and put a custom last name and # on the jersey. How cool is that! Who wouldn’t want to rock their favorite team’s jersey with their lucky number and nickname on the back? I hope somebody gets me a Rockets jersey with #22 and DanSwany on the back for Christmas.

4. Fly Basketball Shoes

If you want to be a baller you have to have some awesome basketball kicks. I’m still a fan of the Jordans, but there are Lebron James, Derrick Rose, and Kevin Durant shoes that will get you automatically into the favorite category of many if you purchase these as a gift for them.

5. Outdoor Basketball Court for the Backyard

I have always wanted a full court basketball court in my backyard. The problem is that I don’t have any room for it right now living near downtown Houston. If you and your family like watching and playing basketball this is the ultimate gift to give!

6. SKLZ Shoot Around (basketball return system)

I wish I had one of these for my junior high and high school years. If you know anyone that practices basketball a lot, this is a must for a Christmas gift. Instead of running after the ball after every shot, you get rewarded with a made shot by having the ball kicked right back to you.

7. Interactive Electronic Basketball Hoop Game

I still play these shoot around electronic games with my friends at houses that have them in the game room or garage. They are good for all ages that like to play basketball. These never get old, and you can get some really expensive ones that are extra nice and durable. I included the cheap version link that had Christmas deals.

8. Customized Basketball (w/ picture and name on ball)

This is a neat thing to get for the basketball player in the family, or for you to put up at the house to recognize your little basketball player. You can put their picture with their name on it. Also, include their team name and position.

While Clothes and Money may seem like good choices to older teens and adults, kids don't want that. They rather have toys, gadgets, and stuff that can poke someone's eye out. Here are some choices for those future Techsans

Is that time of the year again, where you are trying to buy a gift and you can't think of anything to get your nephew or niece, so you get some squishy bouncy ball at the mall that he/she breaks in a few minutes (I learned not to Gronk spike squishy balls after that). Due to copyright laws, I can't post pictures that aren't mine, so I'll just provide the link. So here are some good gift ideas for the younger ones who like Texas Tech, but don't want the same clothes from Uncle Joe and Aunt Sally again this Christmas.

Mini Toy Truck - $10.99 (Red Raider Outfitter)

Height: It says Mini, so I'm guessing 8"??? Weight: Who Cares 40 time: How fast is the kid?

Ratings: Not reviewed by Customers

Interest: Boys 3-5 (Warmer), Boys 6-10 (Warm), Girls 6-10 (Cool)

This a new item to the Red Raider Outfitter store, a toy trunk that you can roll around on the floor. While all the adults are all around taking and catching up, the little youngster can crawl on the floor and roll the truck around, ramming it into everyone's legs. Eventually, someone will take it away from him and he'll start crying, but the next day when he gets it back and no one is around, he'll have a blast rolling around the truck, running over things and racing through the house. Don't expect this gift to be the one everyone remembers, but the kid will enjoy it for while and it'll hypnotize him into liking Texas Tech. Start them off young when they're malleable and can't think.

Texas Tech Plush Mascot Backpack - $14.95 (Fan Fanatics)

Height: 13" x 12" x 5" Weight: Who Cares

Ratings: Not reviewed by Customers

Interest: Boys 4-6 (Warmer), Girls 4-6 (Warmer)

Ok, I'm not great with sizes of little kids, so I'm guessing a foot tall backpack would be great for those in Pre-K and just going into elementary school. Imagine how cool your little kid/nephew/niece would walking around with a backpack that has Raider Red's face on it! He would be the coolest kid in school. Now some information about the backpack, it is 100% Polyester, has embroidered felt material and has a soft, plush exterior. Plus, the straps are expandable and there is a carrying handle on it. However, the downside is that it has only one zipper compartment, so if he's carrying anything small, you'll have to find a pouch to put it in so it doesn't get lost.

Texas Tech Pillow Pet - $29.99 (Tech Traditions)

Height: 18" long, 11" wide Weight: Pillow weight

Ratings: 4.7 by reviewers

Interest: Girls all ages (Favorite), Boys 10 under (Warm), Boys 11 and older (Cool)

If want to spend a little more money on your nieces and nephews, or your little one doesn't have one already, you can never go wrong with a pillow pet. They are shaped as a certain animals, and adults usually get one that the kids like. Lately however, they have started coming out with team ones, including Feaarless Champion (Black Stallion). They can be a pillow, or fold up to become a stuffed animal (a pet). Girls of all ages are found using these and bring them everywhere, and younger boys usually have them too, and they absolutely love it! Some older boys have it occasionally, but they usually won't want them unless they want to impress a girl. I even have a miniature pillow pet of Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox 2B) that's always on my dashboard. This is a great gift for anyone!

Texas Tech Hail Mary Youth Football - $12.99 (Tech Traditions)

Height: Not sure, small enough for a kid Weight: Football Weight

Ratings: 4.7 by reviewers

Interest: Boys 6-10 (Favorite), Boys 11-13 (Warmer), Boys 14-18 (Warm)

You can never go wrong with a football, but the pro or collegiate size football way be a little big for them. This is why this little bit smaller football is good. It's not that small, but it'll be a little bit easier for the little boys to throw it around. It is 100% rubber and throws like an actual football (unlike those hand sized ones). While all the adults are talking on Thanksgiving, you can push the boys to the back and play football. If they complain it's too cold, ignore them and keep on enjoying adult time. Just make sure no they don't start killing each other out there.

Texas Tech Fiki Football - $7.99 (Calender)

Height: Around 6-9" goal post, with 5-7" field Weight: Lightweight

Ratings: No reviews

Interest: Boys 6-10 (Warmer) , Boys 11 and up (Warm)

This time killer is great for boys of all ages and is also competitive. This set includes a 6" field, and a field goal post, with a triangle football that kids can flick into the goal post. There is actually a game I used to play in middle school and high school when I was bored called Fiki Football. The rules are right here. Anyway, give it to a son or nephew for a fun gift, or if you don't have any, give it SARR's son, so he can annoy his dad with kicking field goals.

Texas Tech White Bow - $7.99 (Red Raider Outfitter)

Height: I don't know Weight: I don't know

Ratings: No reviews

Interest: Girls 6-10 (Warmer), Girls 3-5 (Warmer)

This gift is prefect for the little daughter/niece that likes to wear bows in her hair. It has the Texas Tech colors and logo, showing her team pride and looking stylish at the same time; She can wear it to school, the mall, or to Red Raider football games, showing which team she cheers for. There are many different kinds of bows too if you go the Red Raider Outfitter site.

Sometimes people say it's the thought that counts. Well today it's time to put some real thought not in to what they'll enjoy, but whay you know they need.

While Christmas is a great time to spend with family and friends, talking and laughing all the way to Grandmother's house, not everyone has been blessed with family members who are fellow Red Raiders. Whether you were the black sheep who turned down the Cornell scholly to enjoy the West Texas winds, or were born at UMC and have fallen in with in-laws from San Marcos who have decided they're close enough to UT and aTm to root for them both equally, you can always use a little help with branding this family as Red Raiders.

Disclaimer: These may all not be gifts. Some may need to be acquired in preparation for the holidays.

1a. A Fight Song Bottle Opener - If you are having anyone over for Christmas, you want to make sure that they are reminded every ten minutes how great that song is. Throw it in someone's stocking (really anybody's stocking is fine, even your own. I mean, it's from Santa, right?), insist that everyone bring bottled beers and away we go. By the end of the day everyone will be so ingrained with the song that every time they dare think of Santa Claus he'll be high-fiving Kliff and passing out shades. They'll have dreams of Ralphie doing everything he can to get a Red Raider BB gun under his tree. http://www.rallyhouse.com/shop/texas-tech-red-raiders-2123785

1b. If you're gonna be pouring, might as well pour in to a Texas Tech pint glass and make everyone else display it, too. I've been in too many bars that pass around pints with horns on them in this country with no alternative. Time for a little payback. http://www.rallyhouse.com/shop/texas-tech-red-raiders-texas-tech-red-raiders-printed-logo-pint-glass-1016133

2. If anyone in your family has a toddler, I'm sure you're already aware how impressionable they can be. It's vital that they develop the proper appreciation and love for Texas Tech early. You may be on defense, looking to make sure your own little tike has nothing but Tech gear to wear. Since you get to dress them, stock that closet up. However, you may be on offense, and you can't just tell a parent how to dress their own child. You have to make sure that the gift then is something that the child will be thinking about. Giving your nephew a football with a big Double-T may just make your aggie brother-in-law quiver when little Billy wants to go toss the ball around. You can find something for them that they'll love, just make it enough Tech that they begin to slowly, subtly become aware that they themselves, are Red Raiders too. Who knows, maybe the kid grows up to be a 5-Star wide-out, and we'll have you to thank for solidifying their commitment at such a young age.

3. Lastly, maybe the split in your household is with a sibling, and each of you has been trying to desperately win the fandom of your parents. Well it’s time for a little home décor to do the trick. These wind spinners are mesmerizing. REPEAT: MESMERIZING. Give this to your mother as a supplement gift or something and hang it up right after she opens it. Anywhere will do. If you want to put it right on the mantle, go for it, although if indoors, be sure to bring a fan to get that sucker going. Everyone will then either be watching the wind toy that they’ll forget all about The Christmas Story marathon on TBS (8/7 CST starting Dec 24 and going 24 hours, btw. Don’t miss it). http://www.rallyhouse.com/shop/texas-tech-red-raiders-texas-tech-red-raiders-10-geo-spinner-1412095

Scarlet and Black is so classic

RndRckTTU has your Texas Tech holiday gift guide for the Texas Tech fan that needs some help decorating their home.

We Red Raiders try to stick to the two main colors: Scarlet and Black but we throw in some White and Gray to broaden the color spectrum. So sit down by the fireplace my fellow Red Raiders and we will tell you a story and enlighten you with ideas.

As we pass through the cobble-stone road of University and Broadway, walk by the "Seal of Texas Tech University" observing the red granite and the foam from the water bubbling in the fountain and then down the pathway near Will Rogers and Soapsuds, and then we walk into the center of Memorial Circle.

We have arrived at our "home"….. Texas Tech University with all of the traditions and memories that we hold dearly and fondly. There are numerous small ways to help us remember this love we feel or to remind other Red Raiders that for a few seconds of each and every day we can capture this moment in our minds.

Now you wake up from your trance on your way home from work stuck in rush hour gridlock, you turn into your neighborhood and pull in front of your home.

How can you make your home feel more like "TTU home"? Well step right in my friends and let’s take a stroll through the ultimate Red Raiders home.

First place is the front hallway where you hang up your coat and scarf and set down your leather business case.

Walk into the kitchen and wash and dry your hands.
"Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together."

Dear Santa,

How are the reindeer? Did you have a safe trip from the North Pole? Does breaching the space-time continuum give you nosebleeds?

There is something for you in the tree. It's a copy of NCAA Football '10 for XBOX 360 with our beloved Michael Crabtree on the cover. You can't have it, I just thought it looked cool and you would appreciate its impeccable placement. It's as if the tree grew around it.

I like food, Santa, and so do you, am I right, Mr. Bowl Full of Jelly?? (High five! No??) And since I know for a fact that the codename for your sleigh is Raider Red, we can dispense with the "Oh, Santa loves ALL college teams equally" gobbeldy-gook.

I have written a theme below that could have been ripped straight from the J. Peterman Catalog. It combines our shared passion for food and the Red Raiders, just so you don't forget to treat yourself this Christmas.

Say hello to Donner for me and remind him that he owes me $50.

Hugs,
LoneStarRedRaider

A Theme - What Red Raider Fans Want for Christmas

It's time to start the grill. What do you do: go outside and get the charcoal going? No! You must first get dressed.

What to wear, what to wear... I know! How about a Hawaiian shirt? I love these shirts, and so should you.

And, what about that noggin of yours? Doesn't it need to be protected from the harmful ultraviolet rays of West Texas sunshine? This Gambler straw hat (no formal association to former coach Tuberville or Kenny Rogers) should keep you out of harm's way.

Take a look at yourself. You look breathtaking, so the last thing you want to do is get charcoal soot all over your new duds. Here, take this apron, especially since you haven't put on any pants yet.

Since you'll be outside for a while, load up your cooler. Who has time to bend down for a cold beverage, anyway? And don't forget to keep that drink frosty with this stylish koozie. All that glitters is not gold!

How do you plan on flipping those burgers or pulling off that rack of ribs? John Wayne would just use his hands, but since you're not the Duke, how about a nice BBQ set.

If you're anything like me, sometimes you make a few notes while you're grilling or on the smoker, especially if you're trying a new recipe. For that, I give you this convenient spiral notepad and a pen & pencil set.

Slicing a brisket is an art form. Master it on this cutting board.

Well done! What a feast! Relax, and take a sip of your favorite brown liquor in style.

Oh no, is it a close game? Better take the bottle...

I love old Christmas photos.

It's for that guy. You know the one.

We all know that one guy. That guy that has everything but you still have to find him something for Christmas because he always buys you something nice. He's a Tech fan, but he already has all the Tech stuff. If you've got some change, here's a few ideas how you can knock his socks off this year.

Klint Kingsbury

You could hire Kliff's brother Klint, and do some Compound Tactical Helicopter Bow Hunting. I'm not sure what he charges but it would be worth every penny.

Or you could hire Klint to blow up a limo for you.

Trucks

Maybe your friend has a taste for things more vintage. You could get him this truck.

Things for your car or truck that you didn't blow up

Or you could buy this for your friend and he could own it for ten years and it would only cost you $495.

Fancy Boots

Perhaps you have an extra $399 and tax lying around and a nice lady friend. You could get her some boots.

Fancy Belts

Or you could go to Shoprewards.com (because the store is in Austin and you don't want to go to Austin) and get some sweet belt buckles for your friend.

iPhone Accessories

There is a company called Timberfly founded by Aggies. Keep reading though.

They make custom iPhone cases and made one for Good Bull Hunting.

They offered to make one for VTM, but Seth politely declined. Of course I didn't decline and asked them to make one for me with a SARR logo, but they never responded. But that was before we had a Wiki page and before we got kicked off Wiki and before I was getting linked on ESPN, so I can forgive them. Check them out if you like and ask them to make you a custom VTM case (or any case you can design). You can email them at support@timberfly.com. Tell them you heard about them from GBH or from me and they'll take care of you. I emailed them over the weekend and they're really nice guys with great products.

Josh Abbott Band

If your hard to please friend likes music, you can book the Josh Abbott Band for him. I went ahead and filled out the application just in case they're free for the Holiday Bowl. It will be awesome to have them over here, singing the fight song to me and Keith and eating chips.

Cat crap coffee

And lastly, if none of these ideas seem viable, you can always try cat crap coffee.

Yes, it's a real thing. A coworker of mine recently took a trip to Indonesia (she's an Olympic medalist in Tae Kwon Do) and brought some of this stuff back for our boss. I didn't get a chance to try it (here's me over here waving my hand and snapping my fingers and saying dangit) but some of the guys said it was really good and smooth. Apparently it's very expensive ($50 a cup?) and considered a delicacy. So, there's that option.

The only question I have about the coffee is how is something like this discovered? Who was the first guy to say "You know what? I'm gonna follow this cat around the jungle, and when he takes a dump, I'm gonna gather it up and see if I can make a good cup o' Joe."

I'd really like to meet this guy and not shake his hand.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody. Hopefully this gave you some ideas on how to satisfy that guy.

If blowing up a limo and then telling all your friends about it by using your phone with a custom wooden case doesn't do the trick then you need to find a new friend.

Seth C has your holiday gift ideas for the blogger dad that wants us all to be awesome and maybe channel Bruce Lee.

A few weeks ago I presented the idea of doing a Viva The Matadors gift guide to all of the writers for VTM and I thought this would be a great idea for the VTM blogging team. I then proceeded to draw a blank as far as what I wanted my page to be about, so I just started to look for things that I thought were awesome because that's how I roll. For the rest of the day, you will hopefully see gift ideas from the various bloggers on VTM and this post will serve as your story stream to find all of the gift idea posts.

"Forget about winning and losing; forget about pride and pain. Let your opponent graze your skin and you smash into his flesh; let him smash into your flesh and you fracture his bones; let him fracture your bones and you take his life! Do not be concerned with escaping safely- lay your life before him!! -Awesome Bruce Lee Quote

As a Texas Tech fan, I tend to obsess over things. I tend to think about the team a lot and how to fix the team and really, I can't do anything. I just a blogger, but I can make a suggestion. We as fans can't buy things for players because it would be illegal, but I'd really like to give the entire team Bruce Lee playing cards for two reasons. One, because Bruce Lee was awesome. Two, because Bruce Lee said things like this (and other totally awesome things):

"Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."

Aww hell yes. Channel your inner Bruce Lee. Awesome.

As a relatively new dad, I really didn't realize the importance of duct tape. Fitsum has a big wheel and he loves that big wheel. The back seat broke and rather than try to buy him a new big wheel, I proceeded to "fix" said big wheel with duct tape. It worked great. The only thing that didn't work great was the fact that the duct tape wasn't Texas Tech duct tape.

Problem solved.

One thing that I've noticed on my travel to Ethiopia is that people still like to drink beer and that includes me. One of my biggest annoyances was that I didn't have a beer bottle opener and I now offer to you two options. Both are awesome. The first option is the travel friendly Brewzer and fits on your key-ring, which is great. You can take it with you and it goes through airport security without any problems. I bought one of these for myself recently and it was a great present to myself and it has permitted me to drink beers that I normally would not be able to open without a bottle opener. You should also know that this is made in the U.S. of A.

The second option is equally awesome, the Luchador bottle opener. I don't think I need any more explanation on this.

Being a blogger, I can't tell you how many pairs of sweats I go through, because bloggers, by nature, still live with their parents (I do not) and live in a basement (I do not) and wear sweats all of the time (I will do this in the winter). It's a bit expensive, but I like to buy American if at all possible and the best American made sweats are from American Giant. U. S. of A.

Also as a blogger, I like to be efficient and sometimes, eating like a hobo makes me more efficient, and I present to you the Hobo All-Purpose Knife, which is a fork, knife and spoon all rolled into one. The description below says that it is good for a gift of personal defense. I completely agree.

Again, in trying to be efficient there are only so many ways to keep your dranks cold without constantly having to add ice to your cooler. As a blogger, we only have so much energy to crawl out of the basement, so we have to be efficient. There is no cooler more efficient than the Yeti cooler with the Texas Tech logo on it. Don't doubt me on this. I promise you the Yeti cooler is awesome. I don't actually own one, but I've seen this sucker in action on a hot July or August day. I'm saving my duckets to buy one of these.

Another thing that you need as a blogger is power. You can't be without power, just ask Scotty, sometimes we all need a wee bit more power. So you need a battery pack. This is also incredibly helpful on 17 hour plane rides home from Ethiopia with a child that needs to be entertained. So here's the Satechi USB power pack. Look, this isn't sexy, but when you need some more juice and you're on the go, you'll thank me.

As a blogger, you are generally incredibly un-athletic. It is why you are a blogger in general. You write, because you cannot do what they do. They also mock you because of that. Most likely in high school, you never got a letter jacket.

Awesome?

Yep.

Problem solved of not ever having a letter jacket?

Oh heck yes.

Thanks to the good folks at BuildYourJacket.com, where they clearly state on the front page of their site, "Most. EPIC. Jacket. Ever. This is not an overstatement! We produce the BEST jackets created ON PLANET EARTH. (It would be Universe, if shipping wasn't so costly)". The only thing missing is the awesome VTM logo in the middle of the center of the back of the jacket.

Last, but not least, I give you to the joy of giving to others. No, this isn't a football, it's a futbol. In Ethiopia, when Fitsum was sleeping and we were staying at the house where the children all stayed before before going to their eventual families, there were soccer games every day right after lunch. Like anywhere else, kids love to play and in most countries other than the U.S., the preferred sport is futbol or soccer. The reason for that is because it takes just one piece of equipment, a soccer ball. The only problem is that these soccer balls would continually lose their air and they would continually be punctured. I think I saw two soccer balls lose their air in the week that we were there. At that point, lunch for the kids isn't as much fun.

Enter, the One World Futbol. So here's the pitch on this ball, it's incredibly durable and it is doesn't require you to air it up. That's right, you just play until the thing wears out. The other cool part is that when you buy a ball, you donate one to a third world country. I can promise you that there are few things that bring joy to the heart of kids that don't really have anything, but like every other kid, they love to play games. I didn't know about this ball until recently, but Fitsum is getting one this year. And you get to choose where you want to donate, so if you want to help people here in Merica, then that's cool. If you want to help somewhere else in the world, that's cool tool.

Oh, no. That's not just cool. That's awesome.
