THE RESULT | Up Next | I'm glad that the team wasn't looking forward, but I think most of us were looking forward to TCU. The biggest keys to the game were the fact that there weren't any significant injuries, other that LB Aaron Ross, who had some sort of leg injury, and I think that was about it. You also needed to see a dominating performance and the fact that head coach Kliff Kingsbury was able to take out every starter at the freaking half, is all you could ask for with a short week.

And if you needed to know about the focus of this team, then this is what we're talking about. Putting a game away with an entire half to go.

OFFENSIVE STAR OF THE GAME | TE Jace Amaro was the difference maker in this game with 8 catches for 142 yards and 1 touchdown. He just transforms the offense.

DEFENSIVE STAR OF THE GAME | Really pretty tough with such a short time period to evaluate as it didn't seem like these guys were on the field all that much. I'll give this to S Tre' Porter who finished the game with 6 solo tackles, but there were a lot of moving parts to the defense

THE STORYLINES

Yeah, just protecting the football. I thought he did a better job not forcing throws. Couple drops that would have helped, but for the most part, a much better job protecting the football. Ball wasn't bouncing around everywhere, and not trying to force into tight windows. -HC Kingsbury on QB Mayfield

Mayfield Shines | I'm not at all down on Davis Webb, in fact, I'm actually pretty encouraged. I said this after the game, which is that I do think that the quarterback controversy that was pumped up during the fall practices and spring was a bit media driven. That's fine and I think it was coach driven too, but I've always thought that based on the statistics from the spring, it was Michael Brewer that was the significantly better quarterback. HC Kingsbury has always said that guys earn their jobs from week to week and I don't think that's any different with the quarterback position. Long-term, I think that Webb is uneven right now, but he'll be just fine and he's a good quarterback. He's got to work on throwing the ball up, but he'll be just fine.

With Mayfield though, it's a bit different. I honestly believe that Kingsbury is most concerned with making good decisions and being able to be agile with your feet. Those are the biggest things that Kingsbury values as a quarterback. It's not necessarily the arm-strenght (it certainly helps) but the ability to make sound decisions and scramble a bit.

Mayfield certainly has that and you can just count your lucky stars that he's at Texas Tech and not some other place burried on a bench.

Mayfield finished the night completing 70% of his passes for 12.2 yards per attempt, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. I also can't think of any careless throws that he had just right now. The 12.2 YPA is pretty significant and it is a stark contrast to wht Mayfield did in the first half of last week. You could somewhat see the more conservative play-calling taken off of what Mayfield likes to do and this seems more in line with what Mayfield's high school film displayed.

Am I worried about a quarterback controversy? Heck no. Kingsbury seems to be making a habit of making good decisions about quarterback. Personally, I don't think Webb is ready and that's okay. If Webb is having to play then something has gone wrong, but I believe that Mayfield and Brewer are more than competent to lead this team. It's a nice problem to have.

Woooo! That Defense! | I don't use exclamation marks all that much, but that defense was really good last night. And before we go much furhter, yes, SFA is a FCS team, but I can't worry about that. In the first half, which is the half that matters most to me, is that SFA had 172 total yards on 32 plays. Of those 172 yards, 75 came on 1 play, the double-reverse pass. For all other plays, SFA averaged 3.1 yards per play. For comparison purposes, Texas Tech has 482 yards at the half on 58 plays for 8.3 yards per play.

There are certainly holes on this defense. CB Olaoluwa Falemi was purposesly picked on for a good part of the first half and there were just a couple of opportunities that CB Bruce Jones had for a good part of the game.

Yeah, it was good. We knew they'd be throwing it around and the ball would be in the air. So we thought we'd have a chance. That's something we've got to continue to get better at. Obviously, we had three ourselves and we can't do that. We have to improve upon that. -Kingsbury on the defensive turnovers

Level by level, the defensive line was really fantastic. They weren't going to have a lot of opportunity to do much of anything because of the nature of the SFA offense. They only allowed 69 rushing yards on 32 attempts and that's very acceptable. No sacks, but SFA was getting rid of the ball really quickly. I'm fine with that. I really am loving the switch of DT Jackson Richards to tackle. He's really suited to play there as he was never quick enough to get around a tackle, but he's plenty quick enough and big enough to play inside. Maybe that will change with Big 12 defenses, but right now, I really like what I see and he can beat his man.

OLB Pete Robertson really is an x-factor. It will be interesting to see how teams try to neutralize him. SFA went 5-wide to ensure that Robertson was covering a slot receiver, but even then, there were times that Robertson blitzed. I'm not even sure if the starting linebackers made all that many plays, but they were solid along the interior. Linebackers Sam Eguavoen, Will Smith and Terrance Bullitt probably had minimal impact, but I'm thinking the same thing applied with them playing as much as of the offense. Keep them healthy and fresh for TCU.

SFA starter Brady Attaway completed less than half of his passes for only 3.1 yards per attempt. He just missed some receivers and some receivers dropped some passes, but the defensive backfield deserves some pats on the back. Good job. Good effort.

The Offensive Line Improves | I did my best to focus on the offensive line during the second viewing of the game and they are getting significantly better. Again, FCS competition, but I was pleased. There are always calls that can go either way, but the holding call against RG James Polk was bulsh, but the other was a good call. The thing about the offensive line is that they did a much better job of moving their feet and getting to spots. We'll get to this in a bit, but the offensive line was actually really good at doing what they are supposed to do. They kept Mayfield clean for the most part and there were just a couple of instances where Polk missed a block. Polk is the weak link, but he's okay. I think it took a bit for OC coach Lee Hays to figure out how they were going to work out. RT Rashad Fortenberry is really athletic and I don't recall such an athletic right tackle in some time. That's not all that normal and I think it took a bit of tweaking to get things how they wanted them.

Running Back Review | There's no doubt that RB Quinton White stole the show last night. He was electric. The running backs as a whole (Kenny Williams, DeAndre Washington, Quinton White and Rodney Hall) had 164 yards rushing on 22 carries for 7.4 yards per attempt. There's some rumbling about White needing to replace Williams, and maybe that will happen, but Texas Tech needs a running back that can run between the tackles and that's Williams. He's not going to be explosive and he's not going to break huge runs, but I like what Williams can do quite a bit. There is room on this team for a between the tackle running back and running backs like Washington and White.

Get On Those Blocks | Kenny Williams first touchdown, the one that took basically two attempts by him were NOT a result of poor offensive line blocking. If you go back and look, both runs by Williams were somewhat stunted by the fact that Amaro didn't land his blocks. Amaro whiffed. Amaro is a fantastic talent and there isn't a Big 12 defender that can cover him, but to take it to the next level he has to learn how to block.

I'd also say that the reason why true freshmen receivers don't play all that much is because they can't block. It's not because they can't catch the ball, but Dylan Cantrell would play more if he'd go kick some ass blocking. But high school receivers aren't used to that. They're used to being "the guy" on offense and not having to block. They'll get it, eventually, but it's the reason why receivers in this offense take time to develop. The ones that can catch and block are the ones that play more than the ones that don't.

QUICK HITS

I don't know exactly which players had their redshirt removed, but as I go throw the list of players that particpated here is the list of true freshmen: IR Carlos Thompson, WR D.J. Polite-Bray, LB Zach Barnes, WR Dylan Cantrell, CB Dee Paul (who got beat on the second TD pass), LB Malik Jenkins, and OL Baylen Brown. I think the coaching staff really wants to keep those redshirts on those offensive linemen if possible. I think Brown played at center and he is the back-up center. Other than that, barring injury, he should be the only offensive lineman with the redshirt removed.

Still find it amazing that Carlos Thompson's only significant offer was freaking Old Dominion. He can play and that punt return was really a terrific look at his speed.

Most likely next year, CB Jeremy Reynolds is going to start at cornerback and he's a guy that competes. I thought the penalty was bulsh on him, but he's going to step into that role just fine. The size he has added is pretty significant and that's going to be very beneficial next year.

I have barely mentioned the receivers. WR Bradley Marquez is going to be terrific this year. Granted, he wasn't playing a lock-down cornerback, or really a cornerback at all for his touchdown run, but the defenders on Marquez for both of his catches were both right on him. Marquez still had to go out and catch the ball.

WR Eric Ward was relatively quiet this game, but I'm not worried about that at all. IR Jakeem Grant again shows all of us that he's deadly in space.

I loved the way the uniforms looked. This is really a minor thing, but I liked the bit of red and white in the black uniforms, both in the jerseys and the pants. I also really liked the non-bass boat glitter helmets and the red stripe. Also, how about those baseball caps with the GUNS UP right up the middle in the back. Who else wants one of those?

The Texas Tech Red Raiders easily handled the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks for the first home win in the Kliff Kingsbury era.

Texas Tech essentially stopped playing, or stopped playing their starters after the first half ended. It was pretty much all back-ups and this game was over at halftime. I'll take it. Some things to consider:

This was against an FCS team, but I don't care. Texas Tech marched up and down the field with a freshman walk-on quarterback. That's not supposed to happen. It is like the stars are aligned or something. I never really bought the competition between Davis Webb and Michael Brewer. The stats didn't play out the competition and it didn't seem realistic. Obviously, the competition with QB Baker Mayfield is much more serious, the reason being is that Mayfield is not going to turn the ball over (like Webb might be prone to do) and Mayfield is pretty accurate. I think any quarterback controversy between Mayfield and Brewer will be real.

The offensive line still needs some work, but overall, I was pretty happy with their performance. James Polk is catching some grief, but I thought overall he was okay. They weren't terrific, but they will be okay.

The defense was pretty impressive, the initial touchdown for SFA was a trick play. It took a trick play before SFA could score on the 3rd string team. I'll need to watch the game again to get a better idea on everything, but collectively, they were really solid.

No one in the Big 12 will stop Jace Amaro.

The Texas Tech defense is really doing a much better job of fighting off blocks. Really fighting off the offensive playing and fighting through the player. Just playing with more aggression.

Without getting too philosophical, this isn't a perfect team. It never will be. But I am really happy with where this team is at right now at 2-0 given the culmination of circumstances that this team and coaching staff have faced.

Saddle Tramps take note. This is how you ring a bell:

I talked quite a bit to Clay's brother, Cody McGuire, who played for Texas Tech, at the Dykes golf tournament reception. Great guy. Back to Ward, he talked about his redshirt freshman year (we should all be careful when writing off redshirt freshmen or sophomores, sometimes players need time) and he said this is what motivated him:

"I think the biggest factor in me making that big jump was ... ," Ward said, then searched for the right words. "I was motivated not to fail. I felt like I’d hit an obstacle. I needed to overcome that obstacle, so I took it upon myself to work on things that coach said I needed to work on.
Tommy McVay is the baddest man on the planet. #wefiredcraigjames ESPN is a ouroboros and no other sports blog has used that word in a really long time. And yes, we opine about SFA.

Seth C: I was very much impressed with the way that the game played out, somewhat thought that the slow nature of the offense starting to roll was inevitable, but the offense and defense really turned it on in the second half. Let's start with the defense, what were the top to takeaways that you had about the defense?

Travis (SARR): What really caught my attention was the same thing that Kliff mentioned in his press conference. The energy level was very high and it was great to see. The guys were swarming all over the place. It was impressive because it was probably the hottest game they’ll play in all season and yet they were able to maintain their intensity. We don’t have a Jadeveon Clowney, but we have a bunch of guys that are well conditioned and get after it. Two forced fumbles (both recovered by SMU) and 6 sacks was great to see. What I really liked was that several of the sacks came on 3rd down, and we held them to a 37% conversion rate on 3rd down.

In the GDT and even on Twitter there were some complaints, especially in the 3rd quarter when Gilbert broke 3 big runs. He had a 19 yarder followed immediately by a 23 yard touchdown scamper and I think we all started to have awful flashbacks of teams running the ball down our throats. But in the end, that was basically it. SMU finished with 102 rushing yards (Gilbert had 42 yards on 2 plays and 53 yards overall to lead the team). It’s a little concerning to see that SMU had 490 total yards, but 128 of those came in garbage time with under 3 minutes to play.

So all in all, I think it was a very solid performance by the defense. SMU isn’t a BCS contender, but they are still a legit D-1 school with some talent. They’ll probably be a top 10 offense this year, so I’ll take holding them to 23 points all day. How about you? Did anything stand out for you on defense?

If anyone still thinks Kliff and his staff are a bunch of "bros" then they aren’t watching very closely. That bro will kick your ass without even messing up his hair. After watching him Friday night I can honestly say there is nobody in America that I would rather have coaching my favorite team. -SARR

And have I mentioned how jacked I am to have Kliff Kingsbury? Just to see that level of intensity makes you want to burn something. My memories only go back to Jerry Moore, but I’ve never seen a Tech coach prowl a sideline like that. I really hope that a bunny doesn’t somehow get loose and hop around on the sideline during any games this year because Kliff will probably pounce on it and eat it on live TV.

I saw mention of the "brofense" by the Frogs ‘O War and that crap is already old. If anyone still thinks Kliff and his staff are a bunch of "bros" then they aren’t watching very closely. That bro will kick your ass without even messing up his hair. After watching him Friday night I can honestly say there is nobody in America that I would rather have coaching my favorite team. Did you see anything in Kliff that surprised or stood out to you?

Seth C: The things that stood out to me were the open-field tackling and just being so excited to take it all in. A breath of fresh air. You can trust me that there were no literal breaths of fresh air taken during the game because of the stillness in the air, but just being real excited about the game.

And yes, it is amazing that getting lost is the thought that Kingsbury coached a walk-on to get through that game. I just sort of find it staggering that this isn't more of a national story. If this had happened at Notre Dame, Baker Mayfield would have signed movie rights immediately after the game. Credit goes to Mayfield, but seriously, what kind of coach can do that? -Seth C

I creepily watched Kingsbury for as much as I could during the course of the game and he was calm pretty much the entire night, but he knew when to get excited. It's strange to think that a team needs to be calm, but play with excitement and that's a strange marriage of emotions and it's a tough thing to try to request of your team. You don't want your team so excited that they don't know what their assignments are, but you want them excited to play the game. That was Kingsbury and there were times where I wasn't sure if he was going to smile during the game, but then he got so happy during a couple of touchdowns it was like seeing a kid get excited scoring his first touchdown.

I hope he never loses that.

And yes, it is amazing that getting lost (and I'll expand on this on Thursday) is the thought that Kingsbury coached a walk-on (not your normal walk-on, but that's fine) to get through that game. I just sort of find it staggering that this isn't more of a national story. If this had happened at Notre Dame, Baker Mayfield would have signed movie rights immediately after the game. Credit goes to Mayfield, but seriously, what kind of coach can do that?

But what's not getting enough credit is the defense. You're right about the defense giving up yards, but that's going to happen. Say whatever you want about Gilbert, but he's freaking deadly rolling to his right and it was sorta amazing to watch the entire game. Kingsbury has already said that he knows that the yards are going to happen, but he really wants to limit the points. Texas Tech was gifted a holding penalty that hurt SMU that would have made the game interesting, but ultimately that didn't matter. The Texas Tech offense poured it on and the defense really tightened up the screws. There were a handful of excellent individual performances.

Tommy McVay

Don't focus on Kliff. That's McVay in the background. Still wearing sunglasses. At night. Because he can.

I think that Kingsbury's hair was perfect, even after the Gatorade bath.

One other awesome thing that stuck out that has nothing to do with football was that Tommy McVay didn't take his sunglasses off the entire night. Don't mess with the silver fox.

I am finding my self totally happy in the moment, but we have to be critical because I can't help myself. Mayfield was pretty lucky a couple of times carrying the ball (although I think he finally figured out towards the end to just throw the ball away) and we've already talked about the defense giving up a large chunk of yards. What's the biggest need for improvement thus far?

Oh and any comment on #firedcraigjames or #wefiredcraigjames other than skipping around the house, which is what I did, when I heard the news?

Travis (SARR): I did some research and Tommy McVay is officially the baddest man on the planet according multiple sources at ESPN.

Of course the struggles on the offensive line are a concern, especially with Carpenter out but it looked like the line improved as the game went on. Something that I found encouraging were the in-game adjustments made by Kliff and staff. SMU has been preparing for this game since last December and so they probably had a pretty good idea of what to expect (and vice versa). I’m sure that helped them in the first half, but our coaches made adjustments that really paid off beginning about half way through the 3rd quarter. The conditioning also stood out. The team looked to be much fresher than SMU as the game wore on, which is huge.

Hold on, did I just turn an answer about something that I’m concerned about into something positive? Man. VTM sure can spin some sunshine. Buncha toe the company line guys over there.

Another thing that worries me is Mayfield’s wind up. He’s got a strong arm, but he sure has a long wind up and tends to lock in on a receiver- very Doegesque. I sure hope Kliff can coach that outta him before the TCU game or he’s gonna throw several picks.

#WeFiredCraigJames is one of the best things ever. I stayed off of Twitter Sunday night because I have to watch Breaking Bad after the kids go to sleep and didn’t want to see any spoilers. Then I got up yesterday morning and had to help around the house a bit as penance for all the college football debauchery I indulged in for four days. When I finally had a chance to glance at my phone it was glorious. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about CJ anymore but it is fulfilling to see a bit of Karma in action. The man is very unpopular nationally, and he only has himself to blame.

So let’s jump down this rabbit hole. I used to be a huge ESPN fan but realized during the Leach saga that they had pivoted from an organization that breaks news to an organization that makes news. We saw it again earlier this summer with the Manziel situation. An ESPN reporter makes a comment or quotes a "source" and then four other ESPN networks report on that news throughout the day. Then late in the day they report on reports that ESPN had previously reported on.

ESPN has become a network that is most interested in doing reports that involve ESPN. With the launch of Fox Sports 1, who obviously have some wise decision makers regarding on-air talent, where do you see all this going? Will ESPN remain a juggernaut, or will they someday face a comeuppance similar to Craig James?

Seth C: Yes, that Deadspin link (to lazy to look right now) essentially paints ESPN as a Ouroboros. I am sure Toby will appreciate the Wikipedia reference. ESPN will eventually devour itself on some level. The way that they've relegated Outside the Lines, the lone actual reporting arm of ESPN seems indicative of the direction that ESPN will go. It's somewhat funny (not ha ha funny) to watch another fanbase be completely conflicted about what ESPN is doing, which is creating and commenting on their own news and then getting Skip and Stephen commenting to just comment and have awesome sports takes on Johnny Football.

I do dislike the fact that the only time I watch sports if if there is an actual game happening, but not for any other reason. I used to really enjoy watching highlights, but even that's manufactured to a point. Ask a hockey fan about the lack of coverage for hockey. Some of that is the result of the popularity of the sport, but it's still a major sport in the US and seemingly isn't covered by ESPN.

So Kingsbury has talked quite a bit about how he'll do whatever he needs to do in regards to the offense. Run the ball, pass the ball, whatever. Given what you know after one entire game, do you think that Kingsbury is really going to run the ball or do you think that given the strengths and weaknesses of this team, do you think he's going to stick with slingin' that football around?

One other defensive question, which is that there was a pretty steep drop-off after this team finished the non-conference portion of their schedule last year. Again, we only have one game, but do you think this defense is built to last in the Big 12?

Travis (SARR): #TobyIsMyHomeboy

I loved Kingsbury's comment in his press conference about not continuing to run into a wall if something isn't working. I think that's what sets him apart from the last two Tech coaches. Leach was pretty stubborn about the pass (I still say every single run during his tenure was a check down by the QB) and we know how Tuberville operated. Kingsbury has said it before and I think he's being completely honest. If he has to pass it 100 times to win, he'll do it. If he has to run it 100 times to win, he'll do that too, which is perfect. The fan base was divided over the past three years, but I think some of that was unnecessary. I said a million times I didn't care how they moved the ball, just get first downs and score. Oregon doesn't pass it on every down but they score. Same with Baylor. Same with freaking Alabama. Just score. I think Kingsbury understands that and is flexible enough to adapt. I don't care how we get there as long as we run 80 plays a game, get first downs, wear down the opponent, and outscore them. Because in 2013, that's how football go.

Do I think this defense is built to last in the Big 12? In a word: No. But I don't think any defense is built to last in the Big 12. If you can stop your opponent 3 or 4 times a game by forcing a punt or a turnover, you have a chance to win with this offense. Of course that number might be a little higher with a freshman QB, but that's the name of the game. I guarantee you if we can force 2 FG attempts per game, get at least 3 punts and at least 1 turnover, we'll be in every game in the 4th quarter. And that is freaking awesome.

So how about you? What are your thoughts on the defense as we look ahead to conference play?

And to wrap it up this week, let's do some predictions. The post last week sorta morphed into a prediction thread so we obviously need to do what's necessary to get the people going. I say Grant scores twice, Robinson and Hyder have big games, and we roll 52-14. What's your prediction?

Closest pick gets a beer by the way.

Seth C: Assuming that everyone is healthy, then yes, I think the defense is good enough for the Big 12. I'm on the SARR bandwagon that the defense just has to be good enough and the offense has to keep pace. There's a really good mix of athletes on the defensive side of the ball right now. Guys that can do multiple things. Terrance Bullitt was right there on that 51 yard pass and he's a quasi linebacker/safety. Pete Robertson can rush the passer or drop back in coverage and stay with a running back. Tre Porter can play cornerback or safety. It's going to be real interesting how these parts continue to be utilized over the course of the season.

I'm awful at predictions because I'm always wrong, but I'd do anything for SARR and Toby. I don't think the next two games will not be much of a contest. I think this team is focused. I don't think it's a mistake that Bullitt knew that 6 FCS teams beat BCS teams this past week. That's certainly one notch in the plus column for the coaching staff hammering that down on Tuesday. Respect everyone, fear no one!

SFA is a terrific offensive team and they too will get yards, but they should struggle. Last year, SFA played SMU in the second week of the season and lost 52-0. I don't have expectations that Texas Tech will totally shut out SFA, but it shouldn't be close. Plus, SFA allowed Texas St. to score 41 points last year and they were terrible scoring the ball last year, or at least it seemed that way to me. If things go according to play, Amaro will have a huge day, as will Ward, because most teams just don't have an answer for either of them and neither will SFA. I also think the running game will be better this week. Coach Hays is going to light a fire. Give me Texas Tech 59, SFA 10. I'll also say that SFA will turn the ball over because they always turn the ball over.

Travis (SARR): That's good because I love playing teams that always turn the ball over.

IR Jordan Davis earns his scholarship. A real find in QB Baker Mayfield. Avoiding the FCS upset. Co-DC Matt Wallerstedt sits down and does some film study.

1. J.
"He has a lot of savvy for the game of football," said co-offensive coordinator Eric Morris, Davis’ position coach. "He understands the game. Not the biggest or fastest or strongest kid out there but spends a lot of time in watching tape and understands his job every single play. He’s someone we can count on every single play, so that’s why he got some playing time."

And WR coach Sonny Cumbie has similar things to say as well:

"He’s a kid that runs, probably, the best routes on our team," co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie said. "He has a knack for space, a knack for getting open. Coach Morris has done a great job with him as far as teaching him some of the little nuances of the position when he played here. I think Jordan’s really taken to that. He’s a tough kid. Hopefully if he stays healthy, he’ll have a really good season."

2. A Gem in Mayfield | The DMN writes that QB Baker Mayfield is a real find and head coach Kliff Kingsbury makes Mayfield's make-up:

"As far as the fearlessness and the passion and not getting up and down or flustered," Kingsbury said, "I saw the same look in Baker’s eyes."

3. Avoiding FCS Upset | The DT writes that the Red Raiders are looking to avoid the FCS upset and Kingsbury and SFA HC J.C. Harper have a nice exchange here:

"I think the spread offense is a great equalizer," Kingsbury said. "If you get some good skill, you can go in there and surprise people. When you look at SFA, they have great skill. They can play anywhere."

Lumberjacks coach J.C. Harper said there is a big difference in tempo when playing an FBS school, but his team is excited to come play in a different atmosphere.

"You get worn down with the tempo and speed of the game," he said. "In games like these you can’t turn the ball over and let them have big plays. It’s a tough deal, but hopefully we’ll learn from it and go out there and compete to win a football game."

4. Kingsbury Returns | Remember how SARR and I discussed how Texas Tech is going to start producing their own content? Well, our good friend Nick Kosmider, he used to work for the LAJ last year, but moved on to Colorado earlier this year and is a good guy, writes for the official site about HC Kliff Kingsbury's finding his way to Texas Tech. Just something to watch how Texas Tech will really start producing their own content and this is the way of the world as a content provider, which is you produce your own content or you fall behind.

5. Quick Hits |

The DMN predicts the game. SARR and I do the same thing later this morning.

Pistols Firing with their Big 12 Power Rankings and it's funny how Porter's wife and my wife essentially had the same reaction upon seeing Kingsbury for the first time.

CFB Matrix thinks that Texas Tech is the 21st best team? I think that's way too high with a freshman quarterback, but it's one game, so who cares?

Yesterday, Ubben had week 2 storylines and predictions. Now ESPN is totally copying him as they have week 2 storylines and predictions. This is basically plagiarism ESPN.

The AmesTribune is now comparing QB Baker Mayfield to Rudy and said that Mayfield was ignored by the recruiting services (24/7, Scout, Rivals and ESPN), which really isn't true at all because he was rated as a 3-star player by every recruiting service. If you like well researched articles, or articles that took me 5 minutes to research and link, then you may not want to read this.
