The Red Raiders are streaking right now and they’re set to host Rice this weekend in the second home weekend series of the year. Currently sitting at a record of 13-1 with dominate wins against UNLV in a quick midweek series, Tech looks to continue their hot streak when the Owls from Rice come to town.

The Owls currently stand at 2-10 heading into this weekend’s series. The losers of two straight, at least the Owls have junior Austin Bulman to help them out at the plate. The junior is currently hitting at .280 with 6 RBI’s and 2 home run’s so far on the year. Rice’s pitching is mediocre so far on the year with an ERA of 5.63, allowing 7 home runs, with 65 errors and 86 strikeouts. On Wednesday night against Houston, the Owls started off with a strong 2-1 lead coming out of the second inning, but that soon faded away as Houston’s batters exploded giving them the 6-4 win.
This won’t be the first time the Owls and Red Raiders have faced off, their last matchup resulting in a Red Raiders 2-1 win in March of 2014. This time won’t be any different, Tech is sounding off on every opponent they’ve faced since the tough loss against Tennessee at the Round Rock Classic. The freshmen are making the presences felt, the rotation of the Killer B’s continues to impress and the veteran leadership has been felt as the Red Raiders currently sit at no. 2 in the country with a 13-1 record. Tech won’t have a problem this weekend against the Owls.
Series Prediction: 3-0 Texas Tech
