Only Jack Anderson days until Texas Tech football season

The veteran offensive lineman looks to cement his place as one of the nation’s best in 2019.

With only 56 days left to go before the Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Montana State Bobcats, it is time to visit our number 56, who is Texas Tech legacy, Team Captain and junior offensive lineman, Jack Anderson.

Jack Anderson is a 6-5, 320 pound offensive lineman from Frisco, Texas, who was one of the most highly rated recruits to sign with Texas Tech. He collected first team All-Area honors in 2016 by the Dallas Morning News, named a second team High School All-American by MaxPreps, participated in the Under Armour All-America game in Orlando, Florida and nominated for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game, as well. Anderson was a consensus four-star offensive line prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, as well ranked 42nd nationally on the ESPN 300 list. Anderson chose Texas Tech over 30 other schools, including Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M.

Anderson has been a mainstay for the Texas Tech offensive line since his freshman season in 2017, where he started all 13 games and was named a Freshman All-American by both ESPN and USA today, and was also recognized during the season on both the Big 12 and National Teams of the Week by Pro Football Focus. 2018 saw Anderson pull in another stellar season as Texas Tech’s right guard and start all 12 games, which gives him a streak of 25 games continuously started headed into 20198. Anderson earned All-Big 12 second team honors, which marked the first time a Red Raider offensive lineman had earned the honor since Le’Raven Clark in 2015. Jack was also recognized on the All-Texas offensive team by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, recognized on the first team All-Big 12 by Pro Football Focus and named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team. With his effort, Texas Tech’s offensive line ranked fourth in the Big 12 with only 2.08 sacks allowed per gamer and lead an offensive that ranked third in passing yards per game, 12th in total offense and 16th in scoring offense.

Not only does Jack Anderson come into 2019 as one the best players on the Texas Tech football team, but he comes in as a first team All-Big 12 candidate and potential All-American at the right guard position. Jack’s leadership has also been recognized by the new coaching staff and his teammates, as he was voted a 2019 Team Captain. Not only does Jack have the talent, strength and ability to be one of the best right guards in the nation, but he also happens to be the owner of one of the best damn mustaches in all of America.
