The Red Raiders hosted their fourth straight regional and went 3-0 to win the Lubbock Regional. A seamless win against Army and two low scoring battles against a stubborn Dallas Baptist team has the Red Raiders feeling super. Texas Tech will host a Super Regional next weekend, but it’s time to give out pitcher of the week honors.
Bryce Bonnin was spectacular in his start against Dallas Baptist on Sunday. The Arkansas transfer helped guide Texas Tech to a shutout of the Patriots and their second consecutive Super Regional appearance and fourth in the last six years. Bonnin started out fuming as he retired the first 19 of 22 batters he faced. He absolutely commanded the strike zone and did not throw 70 pitches until the 7th inning.
Bonnin went seven innings, gave up three hits, recorded seven strikeouts, and allowed two walks against 26 batters. In the seventh inning, he found himself in a jam with the Patriots threatening with runners on second and third. Ultimately he kept the shutout in tact, during a game in which the Red Raiders struggled to put up runs.
M7 | DBU gets runners on second and third, but Bonnin shuts them down yet again! What a performance.
