Football gets another wide receiver commitment from the 2020 recruiting class

Four recruits in a single weekend is a good average for Coach Wells...

On Saturday, football head coach Matt Wells gave us the first taste of his abilities and there could even be more additions to the 2020 class. We already talked about wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and running back Tahj Brooks, but they were not the only ones.

Today we present another receiver, JJ Sparkman, 6-3, 204 pounds from Longview, Texas.

Sparkman is a 3-star recruit who had a fantastic junior season at Pine Tree High School. In fact, he had 28 receptions for 702 yards and 10 touchdowns. In February, at The Opening Regional, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.84. With his frame, he will definitely be a red zone threat.

He was in Lubbock for his official visit on June 21st, and immediately committed to play for the Red Raiders. He had offers from notable schools such as Missouri, Arkansas, and Big 12 foes Iowa State and Kansas State.

Sparkman is a tall receiver with a good ability in the route running and good at taking advantage of mismatches. He’s versatile and can be used in many formations and schemes.

Welcome to Lubbock, JJ!
