Only Weston Wright days until Texas Tech football

This redshirt freshman will be in the mix for a backup spot

We’re done with the 70s! The football season is coming with great strides and today we meet a young offensive lineman who just finished his redshirt season, Weston Wright. He’s a 6’6, 300 pounds from New Braunfels, Texas.

He was a three-star prospect, he was ranked as the No. 134 offensive tackle in his class by 247Sports. He chose Texas Tech over, among others, Air Force, Army, New Mexico, Rice and UTSA.

He was a scout team member in 2018 and he’s expected to be a contributor in 2019. Probably, he’ll fight for some backup positions, mainly on the right side of the line.

I don’t see him having a lot of playing time, but this year will be important for Wright, very important. After this season four starters (Terrence Steele, Madison Akamnonu, Bailey Smith, and Travis Bruffy) will graduate, so he’ll have the chance to emerge as a possible starter in 2020.
