The Red Raiders hosted the TCU Horned Frogs this past weekend. The Red Raiders knew they had a chance at the Big 12 title going into the week, but they needed a little bit of help from Oklahoma State. Tech went into the weekend trailing Baylor by half a game in the standings and a series win was a must for Tech. The Red Raiders prevailed and even in a loss this pitcher took home the honors of pitcher of the week.
Micah Dallas was sensational during his start against the Frogs on Friday. The freshman right hander struck out 8 of the 25 batters he faced while giving up 7 hits and 0 runs in his series opening start. Although the Red Raiders lost a thriller in 14 innings, Dallas went toe-to-toe with ace pitcher, Nick Lodolo, who will more than likely be a 1st round pick in next month’s MLB draft. Micah has proven to be an essential pitcher to the Tech starting lineup and if he continues his impressive play, Tech will be a difficult out in the postseason.
The Red Raiders head to the Big 12 championship in Oklahoma City this week. Their first opponent will be the Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday at 12:30pm. Typically, Tim Tadlock and company don’t put a ton of emphasis on the Big 12 tournament when they have won the regular season conference title. More than anything, Tech needs to stay loose and healthy to get ready for a presumed regional in Lubbock.
