Hitter of the Week: senior steps up

This week’s recipient played his last regular season home game as a Red Raider

In honor of his last regular season game in his Texas Tech uniform, this week’s hitter of the week is senior Cameron Warren.

On Thursday, he finished 3-for-5 with a double. He was one of four Red Raiders with a multi-hit game. It was his valiant effort that put the Red Raiders on the board in the 11th inning. Down to their final out, Warren started a two-out rally with a single to center. With freshman Dru Baker in to pinch run, sophomore Cody Masters belted a double down the right field line, and Baker hustled all the way around, sneaking his left hand past the catcher’s mitt to touch home and tie the game.

Warren finished the regular season finale going 3-for-5 with a pair of singles and an eighth-inning triple on his own senior night. The Midwest City, Oklahoma, native now has 67 hits on the season and is second on the team with 51 runs scored after scoring three of Tech’s eight runs on Saturday night.

Don’t fret Red Raiders. The regular season might be over, but now the good part begins. The Red Raiders are headed to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Tournament next week, and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more Warren.
