All weekend long we heard how this was going to be the lowest scoring title game ever before, and it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility after eight minutes of play.
Both teams combined for a total of five points after four minutes of play, confirming the advertised slow-motion slugfest. The Red Raiders took seven minutes and 22 seconds to get their first field goal of the game, coming from a Davide Moretti three-pointer. Meanwhile, Virginia is starting to piece together their offense and are looking to go on another scoring run midway through the first half.
Culver looks like he’s struggling once again, and with Mooney not playing out of his mind like he was a couple days ago, Tech could be in trouble.
It’s still very early, but Tech needs to get it together as they trail, 11-6.
