The Red Raiders hosted their first Big 12 series of the season against the Kansas Jayhawks and bats were on fire during the series win. The reigning pitcher of the week, Micah Dallas, had another efficient start on Friday, but this week I’m giving the honors to Caleb Kilian.
Caleb Kilian is 4-0 in his last 4 starts after starting the season 0-2. Since a dominant performance in Austin to get his first win of the year, Kilian has looked like the star pitcher that the Red Raiders expected him to be. Kilian gave up 4 earned runs, 6 hits, and recorded 3 strikeouts in his 5 inning start. The bats certainly helped Kilian coast to a win as the Red Raider offense put up 19 runs on the Jayhawks during Saturday’s contest. Kilian moves to 4-2 on the year and is undefeated in Big 12 play.
The Red Raiders will play 4 games this week with a game in Midland on Tuesday against the New Mexico State Aggies and then off to Morgantown to face the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Red Raiders are now 5-4 in conference play and the Mountaineers sit at 4-5. The Red Raiders are currently tied with Oklahoma for 3rd place in the Big 12 standings behind Baylor and Oklahoma State. A series win in Morgantown would go a long way for the Red Raiders and their conference title hopes.
