One of the best prospects from the Class of 2020 has reclassified and will now begin his college career a year early. RJ Hampton is officially reclassifying to the Class of 2019 and has named Texas Tech to his top 4 choices.
Five-star guard RJ Hampton is now in the Class of 2019 and considering four schools — Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Texas Tech. He’ll play college basketball next season and then, barring a surprise, enter the 2020 NBA Draft. https://t.co/dQFAPG3333— Gary Parrish (@GaryParrishCBS) April 30, 2019
This is huge news for the Red Raiders as the program now has the ability to gain another elite prospect to go alongside Jahmius Ramsey, Kevin McCullar, and Terrence Shannon Jr.. Gaining a prospect like this would allow the Red Raiders to play small ball with Hampton playing in more of a point guard spot with Davide Moretti and Ramsey playing more as off the ball guards, and Kevin McCullar playing more of a forward role with Malik Odingo playing the center spot.
Picking up a prospect of this caliber could easily vault this season’s recruiting class into the top 10 in the country and could potentially make them the best in the Big 12. Hampton would most likely be a one and done candidate, but the program knows that going into this season.
