The Red Raiders hosted another top team in the Big 12 this past weekend in Oklahoma State. Texas Tech knew a series win was a must to stay in contention in the Big 12, but a series sweep of the Pokes was as sweet as it could get. Most of the pitchers for the Red Raiders had great outings as Tech only gave up 8 runs in 3 games, but only one can be the pitcher of the week.
Dane Haveman was an absolute stud this weekend against the Cowboys. The junior lefty came in for 2.2 innings of work and struck out 6 of the 9 batters he faced. Haveman gave up 2 hits and 0 runs in his brief, but affective outing. The entire pitching staff during Friday’s opener recorded an astonishing 17 strikeouts in a dominant 12-4 win.
The Red Raiders will play 2 games at home this week against UTRGV on Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling to Norman to face the Oklahoma Sooners for a 3-game series. The Red Raiders are now 11-7 in conference play which is 1.5 games behind the Baylor Bears. Meanwhile the Sooners are currently 8-7 sitting at 5th place. If Texas Tech wants to win the Big 12 for the 3rd time in 4 seasons, they will need a series win this weekend now that there are only 6 conference games left.
