Football picks up graduate transfer from the University of California

Evan Rambo comes at a premier time to strengthen the linebacker lineup

The latest of graduate transfers coming to Texas Tech is a California native, Evan Rambo. Rambo committed to the University of California as a three star recruit over an offer to San Diego State and interest from USC and UCLA. At Cal, Rambo played as a safety and linebacker, racking up career stats of 34 tackles (four for a loss, two sacks) and one career interception in 22 games wearing the Cal logo.

Rambo tore his ACL in the fourth game of the 2016 season and missed that plus the 2017 with a redshirt. His 2018 season had flashes of stardom, but Rambo ultimately decided to transfer - choosing Texas Tech and Coach Wells as the best option for his remaining eligibility. Under Defensive Coordinator Coach Patterson’s direction, Evan is moving to the linebacker position to help fill a gap left by Texas Tech star Dakota Allen. At 6’4, 210 lbs Rambo is one of the more lanky linebackers of the bunch, but his reach and athleticism will compliment Jordyn Brooks and Riko Jeffers in the passing game. Welcome to the family, Evan!
