The Red Raiders traveled to Manhattan, Kansas to face off against the Kansas State Wildcats and found themselves leaving with a series win. Starters Caleb Kilian and Micah Dallas earned wins on the road trip and frankly both guys are worthy of pitcher of the week.
With that being said, I’m giving the honors to Micah Dallas once again. It’s worth noting that Caleb Kilian is 3-0 in his last 3 starts after starting 0-2 so the Red Raiders pitchers are trending in the right direction. Micah Dallas gave up 3 earned runs, 6 hits, during his 6 inning start. The freshman also recorded 3 strikeouts and issued 2 walks while facing 26 batters and is now 3-0 on the season.
In Micah’s longest outing this year he held Kansas State in check to help the Red Raiders get back to .500 in the Big 12. Coming into the season the Red Raiders had a few questions regarding their starting pitching staff after losing Davis Martin to the MLB Draft. Micah has stepped up to fill the void Martin left and let’s hope his strong play continues.
The Red Raiders are on the road on Tuesday and Wednesday to take on the University of New Mexico Lobos and then back at Rip Griffin Park to play a 3-game series against the Kansas Jayhawks. The Red Raiders are now 3-3 in conference play and the Jayhawks are currently 1-5 in Big 12 play. A series win is a must for the Red Raiders if they are going to compete for the regular season Big 12 title.
Get out to Rip Griffin this weekend and cheer on the Red Raiders for their first conference series at home!
