Just 3 weeks into the season, all of the teams in the Big 12 have played enough games for us to rank them. Here’s our first power rankings for the teams in this conference:
1. No. 12 Texas Longhorns (11-3)
This team has been playing well of late, sweeping then No. 2 LSU. This team is not perfect by any means but they have been playing exceptionally of late, giving them the top spot in this week’s power rankings. Outfielder Austin Todd has been very good batting in 20 RBI so far this season earning him last week’s Big 12 Player of the Week.

2. No. 14 Texas Tech (7-3)
A rough weekend for the Red Raiders shouldn’t take away from the total body of work done this season. With a series sweep over a NCAA Tournament team in Kentucky, the Red Raiders are in good shape to have a great season. Josh Jung should be the Big 12 Player of the Year and Gabe Holt has been a star in the outfield.

3. No. 22 Baylor (9-2)
This team beat Dallas Baptist and Texas State and lost to No. 20 Texas A&M and Rice. They are still a good team led by Davis Wendzel hitting and a loaded bullpen. This looks to make noise in the coming weeks as Big 12 play begins.

4. Oklahoma (11-1)
These Sooners have won 5 straight including a sweep of Columbia. The main issue issue with this team is the schedule. The Sooners haven’t played anyone too great this season, with their only loss coming to the best team they played (Cal State Fullerton). Infielder Tyler Hardman has been a very good hitter for them, hitting 4 home runs this season.

5. No. 23 TCU (7-4)
The Horned Frogs haven’t had a great week either, losing to both Rice and No. 20 Texas A&M. TCU is still very talented, having beat No. 1 Vanderbilt earlier in the season. Alex Isola and Jake Guenther have this team in a good position to move up this list later in the season.

6. Kansas (8-3)
This team has been on a tear of late, winning their last 4 and 6 of their last 7. This is a dark horse team to beat some good teams during Big 12 play. Catcher Jaxx Groshans could be a Big 12 first teamer, and they have three quality starters that take up innings from a good bullpen.
A weekend of making history.

7. Oklahoma State (6-4)
This team has been a bit rocky after being ranked earlier in the season. They went 1-2 this week after losing twice to Iowa. Christian Funk leads this team in RBI, and the pitching staff looks pretty good as well. This team will have to bounce back this week against some Power 5 foes to climb higher in these rankings.

8. West Virginia (6-5)
This team is coming off one win against the defending national champion Oregon State. They also have a couple of bad losses earlier in the season, which is why they are in the eighth spot this week. Kade Strowd is the reigning Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and had took no-hitter into the 7th inning this weekend.
1-2-3 4th inning for Kade Strowd, with a pair of strikeouts.

9. Kansas State (5-6)
The Wildcats will most likely finish in the bottom half of the Big 12 standings this season. They are coming off of a two-game winning streak but had some really bad losses earlier this season. They are also the only Big 12 team with a losing record so far.
