Typically, this Red Raider team doesn’t struggle to put up runs, but this weekend they relied heavily on the pitching staff. Caleb Kilian, Erikson Lanning, and Mason Montgomery starred in their starts against the Longhorns, but Kilian gets pitcher of the week honors over both Lanning and Montgomery because of the length of his outing and the win.
In the only win of the weekend Caleb Kilian reminded fans why he was projected to be our ace before the start of the year. Kilian was involved in a heated pitching duel against Longhorn pitcher Blair Henley. The game was dominated by stellar pitching and great fielding as both guys lived up to expectations, but Kilian and the Red Raiders prevailed.
Kilian brought his best stuff while giving up 1 hit, 2 walks, and recording 4 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. It was his best outing of the season and he recorded his first win to improve his record to 1-2. Kilian and the Red Raiders are back home to take on the Michigan Wolverines starting this Thursday for a 3-game series.
