His ability to drive the basket and finish around the rim are immediate points of interest for Texas Tech - especially with the probability of Culver’s departure to the NBA. Shannon’s basketball IQ and work ethic on defense is also a crucial piece to Beard’s teams; watching his highlights makes it easy to see why 247Sports Composite has him ranked as a high four-star. Shannon will be joining a host of other stars that follow (PF) Khalid Thomas, (C) Russel Tchewa and (CG) Jahmius Ramsey in the upcoming class.
From our friends over at prepcircuit.com, Shannon answered some questions regarding his decision:
Q: Why did you decide on Texas Tech?
A: “I felt really comfortable there, I have a good relationship with Coach Cyprien and I think it’s perfect for me.”
Q: What role have you and the coaching staff discussed about playing when you get there?
A: “I would be a wing and score the ball. There are not really any positions there except for the five so everyone can handle the ball.”
Q: What is it like to step into a winning program like Texas Tech?
A: “It is nice to step into a successful program like Texas Tech. I know that it will be a challenge and I’m ready for it.”
