The Red Raiders were hot from the field in the first half as Jarrett Culver started the scoring with a three point shot just two minutes into the game. Cam McGriff came back with a 5-0 scoring run to give the Cowboys a 5-3 lead just 3 minutes into the game. Two Norense Odiase free throws and a Brandone Francis three pointer later, the Red Raiders were up 8-5 and they would never give the lead up in the first half.

Shooting was a huge theme for the Red Raiders as they were able to make shots the Cowboys could not. Kyler Edwards hit a three and a jumper with 12 minutes left to put the Red Raiders up by 8. Norense Odiase slammed home a dunk with a foul to put the Red Raiders up 23-12 with 10 minutes left in the half.

The Red Raiders went on a 21-9 run for the remainder of the half to put them by 21 at the break. Matt Mooney led all scores with 12 points, all off three pointers as he went 4-4 from behind the line in the first half. Jarrett Culver added 9 and Davide Moretti added 2 three pointers of his own for 6 points. The Red Raiders went 9-14 from behind the three point line in the first half as a team, something that powered the offense to extend the lead to 21, the score 44-23.
Texas Tech came out even more on fire in the second half, a quick putback tip from Tariq Owens, another three pointer from Matt Mooney, a steal and layup from Jarrett Culver, and two huge dunks from Tariq Owens gave the Red Raiders a 15-0 run to start out the second half of play. With the lead at 59-23, the Cowboys finally made a jump shot to score their first points of the second half.

From that point forward, the Red Raiders were on cruise control, pulling Culver at the 10 minute mark and putting some of the walk-ons in the game with 8 minutes remaining. The Cowboys went on a 13-0 run and Coach Beard put his starters back in. Davide Moretti almost immediately drained a three pointer to solidify the win for the Red Raiders.
Three Red Raiders scored in double figure while three more had eight or more. Tariq Owens had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks on the night. Owens had four massive dunks that electrified the team and quieted the crowd. Davide Moretti had 8 assists to go along with his 9 points on the night.
Player of the Game: Jarrett Culver
This was honestly a tough one. Matt Mooney had a great game hitting all five of the three pointers he took. He ended up with 15 points, but that didn’t lead the team as Jarrett Culver quietly had 19 points. Culver hit from all areas of the floor as he went 2-5 from the three point line and 7-12 overall on the game. He also went 3-5 from the free throw line. Culver ran in transition a bunch this game as he also collected 2 steals on the night along with an assist. A solid outing and hopefully a sign of things to come for the sophomore guard.
Jarrett Culver with the steal and impressive coast to coast finish.
