Tony Bradford Jr. looks to anchor the defensive line for years to come

This new coaching staff led by Head Coach Matt Wells is looking to add some new talent and that starts in the trenches with a defensive end who just recently won a state championship in December. Tony Bradford Jr. is the type of player that will be able to anchor this defensive line in future years.

Bradford Jr. is a three-star prospect that chose Texas Tech over a host of Power 5 schools including Purdue and Arizona. He committed to Tech in June of last season and stayed committed to the university even after the firing of Kliff Kingsbury and his entire staff. Coach Wells committed to keeping the current commits committed to the university and Bradford Jr. was no exception.

Bradford has the ability to play all three positions on the defensive line for the Red Raiders. He is a bit undersized to play defensive tackle as he is only 6’1” and 240lbs but he has the skills and smarts to play inside. He also has the speed to get a step on tackles and tight ends and play on the outside as well.

Bradford is definitely a project, but I believe that he has the ability to become something great for this team. From watching his film, you can see the smarts that Bradford possesses on the field. He mainly played defensive tackle this past season and starred on a defensive line that has multiple future division one players. Bradford, with some work in the weight-room, could become one of the better defensive lineman in this program.
