Oh, hey! I know, it’s been a bit since I’ve posted. A week in the hospital will do that to you.

Have no fear, I am on the mend and working towards becoming completely healthy.

While I was away, it gave me plenty of time for some research on this upcoming baseball team, which I feel as though I’ve made my feelings on very clear (even in football articles), but I will work on a season preview/prediction post At a time of my choosing.

Small note before I start below. I truly hope you have kept up with the baseball stuff Kyle Kapper has already been putting out, because it’s solid gold. This site is going to take a massive step forward in baseball coverage in 2020. Get ready.

Okay, on to some quick hits.

D1 Baseball ranks Texas Tech’s 2019 class #22 in the nation

D1 Baseball released its 2019 Newcomer Recruiting Rankings yesterday, in which J-Bob Thomas and Tim Tadlock’s 2019 class received the #22 class in the country. This is the second consecutive year D1 has ranked Texas Tech’s recruiting class in the top-25, as last season D1 Texas Tech’s 2018 class came in ranked #15, which included such names as INF Dru Baker, OF Max Marusak, RHP Micah Dallas, INF Dylan Neuse and RHP Bryce Bonnin.

The prospect highlighted in the article include Rockwall Heath product 1B/OF Nate Rombach, younger brother of former Tech star Josh Jung, INF Jace Jung, Dillon Carter OF, INF Jared Cushing, RHP Brandon Hendrix, RHP Andrew Devine, former Vanderbilt transfer RHP Austin Becker. Sleepers in the class include converted catcher RHP Eli Kerim, RHP Steven Vasquez, RHP Tyler Hamilton, LHP Jakob Brutoski, C Bo Willis.

Paired with the 2018 class, we could be in for something really special at The Law this spring with this team.

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper ranks Texas Tech #3 in preseason poll

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper came out with their 2020 preseason rankings yesterday, which has Texas Tech at #3 and matches the highest preseason ranking in program history. This coming after a historic season in 2019 that saw the Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball team finish with a record of 46-20, win its third Big 12 title in four years and make it farther than any other Red Raider team in its fourth trip to Omaha in six years.

This is the third consecutive season Tadlock’s group has been ranked in the top five in one of the six preseason polls. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has ranked Tech in the top five in 2018 (no. 4) and 2019 (no. 5).

A total of five Big 12 teams are represented in the poll with Texas Tech leading the way, ahead of Oklahoma State (19), TCU (20), Texas (22) and Oklahoma (30).

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (also known as Collegiate Baseball Magazine and Collegiate Baseball) has been published for over 40 years and is based out of Arizona. It is published twice a month from January until June, and once in September and October. It is known as the “voice of amateur baseball” and is the oldest college baseball poll. The Newspaper also is involved in many awards given at the college level, including its Division I Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
