Texas Tech basketball took the stage again in a mighty way, putting up 85 points on Eastern Illinois University last night under the watchful eye of new Final Four banners. The arena was packed, brides earned Chris Beard’s attendance, and Red Panda won the hearts of many. Football is coming off of a bye week and looking ahead to West Virginia this weekend. Since we’re continually inclined to report on the state of football as the SBNation FanPulse sees it: here’s the country’s most un-bias and fan-fueled ranking system for week 10 of CFB.
It just had to be. LSU - Alabama jockeying for first with a huge showdown in Birmingham this weekend; also earning near 70% of the total vote in this week’s bonus question “which game are you most excited for?” The top 10, outside of Oregon and Florida, pretty much remains the same.
biggest winners:
• Memphis, rocketing up to No. 15 from No. 23 after beating SMU 54-58
• Kansas State, coming in to the top 25 at No. 24 after beating Oklahoma, 38-10
biggest losers:
• Florida, dropping from No. 6 to No. 11 after losing to Georgia 24-17
• SMU, dropping from No. 14 to No. 20 after losing to Memphis 54-48
Texas Tech fan confidence (football):
No surprise here. After the bye week our numbers are hovering just over 50% confidence in the place and direction of this Texas Tech team. They’ll have an opportunity to win back some fans this weekend in Morgantown, but it won’t be easy.
Texas Tech fan confidence (basketball):
The poll was gauged before last night, but I imagine if there were an ability to shoot through the roof you guys would do it! The way that Texas Tech handled Eastern Illinois both offensively and defensively spell a lot of good things coming for the Red Raiders this season. We all agree how great a coach Chris Beard is, so expect the chemistry and effectiveness of this team to only increase as the season goes on.
