We’re sliding again! Texas Tech fails to cash in on Beard’s promise at a Broadway block party by letting the Jones be defiled last weekend against Iowa State. No matter! We’re here for the SBNation Fanpulse; the most accurate, fan-based top 25 in the nation.

This is still a SEC-heavy world, with five of the top 10 bearing that gaudy S-E-C tag. This weekend has a number of key match ups, however, like the highly voted for Auburn at LSU. The close second in the voting was Wisconsin at Ohio State; if there ever were a time for a team to make its claim on the Big 10 conference it’s now. Lord knows Michigan will never actually do it. Also, why is Texas still being ranked?

Biggest winners:

  • SMU continues to climb the ladder, jumping from No. 17 to No. 13 after defeating Temple 45-21.
  • App State! Jumping still from No. 24 to No. 19 this week after beating LA-Monroe a staggering 52-7.

Biggest losers:

  • Boise State, falling from No. 13 all the way down to No. 22 after being handled by the Cougars of BYU, 28-25.
  • Michigan, dropping from No. 19 to No. 25 after losing to Penn state, 28-21.

  2. LSU
  3. Ohio State
  4. Clemson

Texas Tech fans’ confidence in the program:

Last weekend’s showing against Iowa State certainly left a lot to be desired, but despite the loss it appears that Texas Tech fans are still holding out hope for the rest of the season. It’s apparent, now, that week 7’s jump in confidence despite the loss was garnered; as the team fought it out with Baylor until the bitter end. This week as Tech played catch-up the whole game without any serious threat of taking over, the confidence understandably dropped.

This week we’re heading to Lawrence to play a surprisingly tough Kansas team under the direction of the Mad Hatter. Be sure to catch up on the preview of that game here, and watch out for our preview podcast coming out tomorrow. Wreck Em!
