With the arrival of the College Football Playoff committee and the stress they have placed on strength of schedule, we’ve seen teams willing to play big time opponents at the beginning of the season. Years ago we couldn’t have imagined there being 11 games between power five opponents in week 1. This continues the recent tradition of big time games to start the season and teams already positioning for the Playoff.
We had some thrilling showdowns that showed us that Virginia Tech, Auburn and Notre Dame were for real. LSU and Maryland provided big time opening week upsets, while the folks at Penn State are just happy they came away from their game unscathed. All the hard work these teams have put in throughout the off-season and the work they’re going to put in may all be for not because did you all see Tua Tagovailoa? Alabama is going to win another championship again aren’t they?
