He joins defensive ends Tony Bradford and Steven Parker for the 2019 recruiting class. He hails from Pearland High School in Pearland, Texas. He chose Texas Tech over Oklahoma, TCU and Texas A&M. This is a big time recruit for Kingsbury and company, as Tech is beginning to climb up the recruiting class ranking as Tech is now ranked 4th in the Big 12 and 31st in the country by rivals.com. Below are some of Ibeneme’s highlights from his sophomore season in 2016.
He is very quick off the line and wraps up very well when tackling. He will most likely be placed at weak-side defensive end or as an edge rusher for the Red Raiders. With the departure of Tony Jones this year and Lonzell Gilmore after the 2019 season, Ibeneme will need to play the edge position consistently as early as the 2020 season. Peep Gilmore with Ibeneme below!
