The Red Raiders just secured their 14th and 15th commitments of the 2019 class with safety Brandon Joseph and corner Alex Hogan. Joseph and Hogan make it 4 DB commits for a Tech team that will need to replace 4 seniors after the season. Here’s a rundown of both the new DBs.
Brandon Joseph
Brandon Joseph is a 6’1” safety for the defending 5A Division II State Champion College Station Cougars. He is rated as a 3-star and the 84th best safety in the 2019 class by 247Sports. Joseph is a physical safety who is not afraid to step up and make a tackle. In his junior campaign he totaled 119 tackles, as well as 13 pass break-ups, 7 interceptions and 4 blocked kicks. Joseph was a first-team all-state selection as a junior, and he chose the Red Raiders after naming a top 3 of Tech, Northwestern and Arizona on July 4th.
Alex Hogan
Alex Hogan is a 5’11” corner and return man out of Lamar High School in Houston, where he was teammates with current Tech running back Ta’Zhawn Henry. To put it simply, Hogan is an athlete. He has the instincts to close on passes quickly, and the physicality to lay down a big hit. Hogan’s experience as a returner will also come in handy. In his junior season he took both a punt and a kickoff to the house. Hogan is dangerous with the ball in his hands, look for him to tally a few pick sixes in his career as a Red Raider.
These two additions mean Tech will bring in a replacement for every senior DB the team will lose after the season. The 806 secondary is in good shape.
