There’s only 58 days until Texas Tech runs out onto the field against Ole Miss and today, we are going to talk about our number 58, offensive lineman Madison Akamnonu. Akamnonu is originally from Arlington, Texas and from Bowie High School. He was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and chose Tech over a host of Power 5 schools including Big 12 rivals Texas and Oklahoma.
Akamnonu redshirted in 2015 and started playing in 2016 and made an immediate impact, playing in all 12 games and starting 7 of those games. He has started in four different positions on the offensive line but has solidified himself as the team’s starting left guard coming into the 2018 season. Looking ahead, he has a great chance to become an NFL caliber guard. Akamnonu has the size and length at 6’5” and 320lbs. He will help anchor the interior of the offensive line along with returners Jack Anderson and Paul Stawartz.
