The Red Raiders and new Special Teams Coordinator, Adam Scheier, have secured their 13th commitment of the 2019 class with kicker Alan Orona.

Orona is a 5’11” lefty out of La Grange, Texas. He is rated as the 41st best kicker in this class by Kohl’s Professional Camps. Orona is also a midfielder on the soccer team at La Grange High School, where his rocket of a left foot is also on display.

This is an important get for this Red Raider coaching staff. The team will lose 3 senior kickers after this upcoming season, Clayton Hatfield, Michael Barden and Matthew Cluck, who all saw playing time last season. This means Orona may have the opportunity to compete for a job the second he steps on campus.

Kicking was a HUGE area of weakness last year with Tech ranking tied for 122nd out of 130 teams in field goal percentage and 99th in extra point percentage. But do not fear Red Raider fans, help is on the way.
