There’s only 32 days until Texas Tech takes the field and NRG stadium and play Ole’ Miss. Today, we will be talking about our number 32, Jake Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick is a freshman from Lubbock, Texas. He is not the first Red Raider football player in his family as his father and his grandfather played for the Red Raiders.

He hails from Lubbock Cooper High School, where he led his team to the regional semifinals in 2016. Unfortunately, his senior season was cut short due to injury, but he came on late to help give his team a playoff berth in his final season as a Pirate. He chose Texas Tech over two PWO offers from Incarnate Word and Mississippi State.
Kirkpatrick will be looking to earn every snap he can this upcoming season as with a secondary of veterans and upperclassmen in front of him, snaps will be hard to find for a walk-on freshman. No matter, I believe that Kirkpatrick can make his impact felt on special teams and in a backup role at the safety spot. Either way, I do believe that Kirkpatrick will get a shot to play some on defense at some point this season as with the new redshirt rule allowing players to play in 4 games before deciding if they are going to redshirt.
