After a successful summer league in which he averaged 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, Zach Smith proved that he could be a contributor at the next level. Though Smith played for the Atlanta Hawks summer league team, his play seemed to impress the Charlotte Hornets front office the most. Charlotte signed Smith to their training camp roster giving Smith a chance to potentially be given one of the 15 full time positions or one of the two 2-way contracts. The Hornets currently have 18 player season signed to camp, which gives Smith a good chance of securing one of these spots. When the question was posed to Red Raider Nation as to whether he’d make the team, the fanbase already seemed convinced.

Will Zach Smith make the Charlotte Hornets?
Though this isn’t the most unbiased poll out there, there is a great chance that Smith can make one of the 17 spots. With Charlotte having a shortage of big men, the team’s defensive inabilities and the front office possibly looking to rebuild, Zach Smith could be a Hornet very soon.
