3 Texas Tech players make Preseason All-Big 12 First Team

All three players are on the defensive side of the ball. What is going on in Lubbock!

The Big 12 released its annual preseason All-Conference honors and three Red Raiders earned a spot on the First Team.

Dakota Allen secured one of the three linebacker spots on the first team, while Jah’Shawn Johnson and Justus Parker occupied two of the five available defensive back positions.

The only downsides to this list are the absence of Jordyn Brooks, who you could argue is the best run-stopping linebacker in the conference, and the fact that zero players on Tech’s offense made the team.

That pretty much confirms what we’ve been saying all offseason long: Texas Tech will be revered for its defense in 2018, not its offense. The team has legitimate NFL prospects on that side of the ball, while the offense is more questionable than it’s been in a couple of decades.

In any case, this is something to celebrate in Lubbock. The team may win differently than it has in the past, but we’ll take the Ws however we can get them.
