The thought.
With a third regional victory in three games and second vs. Louisville, the Texas Tech Red Raiders (42-17) are in the NCAA super regional round and will host Duke at Rip Griffin Park this weekend. They are just a few wins away from Omaha, but can they actually go all the way?
The take.
The last time the Red Raiders were in Omaha was in 2016, and who can forget that heartbreaking loss to the eventual champion Coastal Carolina? There’s also last year’s loss to Sam Houston State before even making it to Omaha. Every year they get so close yet fall short of the glory.
Before the start of the season, the Texas Tech baseball team was picked to finish first in the Preseason Big 12 poll. However, they didn’t quite make it that far.
While Tech did suffer a few devastating losses this season, the Red Raiders have since managed to redeem themselves. They defeated Louisville last weekend and brought an earlier-than-usual end to their season. The Cards’ season ended short of the supers for the first time since 2012. Even after Louisville started gaining momentum, Texas Tech still managed to get the W.
The truth is Texas Tech has the potential to bring back the trophy and the Texas Tech faithful are convinced this is the year it will happen but is potential enough?
