Here are your Red Raiders in the MLB updates this week:
Chad Bettis – Colorado Rockies
Bettis appeared in one game since last week against the New York Mets. He pitched 4.2 innings, giving up nine hits, eight earned runs, five walks and struck out four. The Rockies ended up winning the game, however, Bettis was not the pitcher of record. So far this season, he ERA is 5.23 in 86 innings pitched. He has appeared in 30 total games, starting in 15 of them, and he has a 5-1 record on the year.
Josh Tomlin – Cleveland Indians
Tomlin appeared in two games last week, pitching one inning in both. During his outing against the Chicago White Sox on June 20, he gave up one hit, but no runs or walks. On June 24 against the Detroit Tigers, he gave up no hits or walks and struck out a batter.
Kelby Tomlinson – San Francisco Giants
After being sent back to the Giants from the Sacramento River Cats on June 18, Tomlinson appeared in two games. In his game against the Miami Marlins on June 18, he was 0-2 at the plate and walked once. In his second game on June 20 (also against Miami), he went 0-3 with a walk and a run. Tomlinson played shortstop in both appearances, and pinch hit Alen Hanson. On June 21, he was optioned to the Sacramento River Cats.
Daniel Coulombe – Oakland Athletics
After being reassigned to the Nashville Sounds for a week, the Oakland A’s recalled Coulombe on June 22 and he appeared in a game against the Chicago White Sox. He pitched less than an inning, and in his short outing, gave up three hits and struck out one batter. He was optioned to the Nashville Sounds the next day.
A.J. Ramos – New York Mets
Ramos was moved to the 60-day disabled list from the 10-day disabled list. He hasn’t appeared in a game since May 26.
Nathan Karns – Kansas City Royals
Karns still appears on the 60-day disabled list because of right elbow inflammation.
Ty Damron – Stockton Ports (Oakland A’s)
On June 22, Damron was assigned to the Stockton Ports, a Class A-Advanced minor league team, from the Beloit Snappers. Throughout his career in the minors, Damron has an 8-12 record with a 4.50 ERA over 94 innings pitched. He has appeared in 50 games, starting in five and getting three saves. He has given up 47 earned runs on 113 hits, while walking 46 and striking out 109. Opposing batter are hitting .295 off Damron.
2018 Red Raider Draftees
Red Raider standouts from this season, Grant Little, Dylan Dusek, Steven Gingery, Ryan Shetter, Michael Davis, Cody Farhat and Ty Harpenau have all announced their decisions to play professional baseball after being drafted. We are still waiting to hear from Jose Quezada, Zach Rheams, Caleb Kilian and Davis Martin on their decisions. Little, who was picked 74th overall by the Padres, has a draft spot valued at $812,200.
