The weekend is gone and we’re here again on Monday and can celebrate the wonderful fact that we are only 75 days away from football with Giovanni Pancotti.
For those who may not know this redshirt sophomore, he's appeared in just one game over two years. At the same time, he’s one of the young players the coaching staff will rely on for the upcoming season.
Pancotti is a 6-foot-6, 310 pounds lineman coming from Bellaire, Texas. During the spring he made a good impression for his mix of size and athleticism. In the first training sessions, he was the first-team left guard, but is expected to be the backup of redshirt freshman Dawson Deaton.
Last season there wasn’t much playing time for the backups of the offensive linemen, as starters stayed away from injuries, but in case of problems, it’s important to have some players, like Pancotti, ready to step up.
